      • Trugoy or David Jolicoeur to givehim his real name of De La Soul dead at 54!

3ft High and Rising is one of the best albums of all time in my opinion, of course I expect few on here to have heard of it.

            • Dickie Davies. World of Sport presenter at 94.

I read somewhere he is the father of Dave Vanian, lead singer of The Damned, but no idea if true.

              • Saturday afternoons as a kid waiting on Dickie telling us it was time for the wrestling.
A really good afternoon was if they had banger racing on as well.

                  Remember mini racing and speedway?

I remember the speedway. Was the mini racing actual minis?
The banger racing was great. Old Austin Cambridges, Morris Oxfords and the like getting mangled to feck in the name of entertainment.

Sportsnight with Coleman was great too, a real mix of sports.

I was thinking, "chinny barsteward who liked to mock or patronise Scotland's football team".
However there were non-chinny barstewards who did and continue to do the same

1977, bitter after Scotland’s win at Wembley, he girned about the (admittedly over-the-top) vandalism carried out by the Scots fans who broke the goals, and tore up the pitch. This included, “And the unfortunate groundsman is to lose his day off for the Queen’s Jubilee to repair the pitch”

A letter in one of the papers a couple of days later offered the condolence, “If England was so concerned about its pitch, it wouldn’t have picked carthorses like Mick Mills* to run about on it in the first place”.

*Mills is now rumoured to have reached the Brecon Beacons in his scouring quest of Great Britain since 1981 trying to find my ex-next door neighbour Peter Weir.
