Two points. Firstly, there have been folk cutting about Dumbarton long before anyone settled in that desolate landscape & called it Aberdeen. It's not even close.

Secondly, here's a picture of some swans on the beautiful River Leven. Note that they are not flying.

They usually fly at night. If you had electricity and street lighting in Dumbarton you'd of seen them flying for yourself you teuchter 😅

As for your first point there's been folk in Aberdeen since about 6000 years BC. Dumbarton has a bonny big rock though so it's not all dull in your village 😃

            Under nae circumstances.

It would be an act of folly.

If they're nae swans, they must be flying pigs.

              • I'm not going to bother to read how on earth this thread got onto swans, but of course the b'uggers can fly, and a fair noise they make doing it.

As the classic poem put it.

Leda was a bit o' stuff
                She had no knickers on
What flew down and shagged her?
                A f'uckin randy swan.

                • Having conducted an online search it looks like Muir of Ord is in the Highlands somewhere. So any of you local lads ken where I'm on about? It was a fairly big pond on a back road between Peterculter and Mason Lodge. There used to be swans settled in the pond, could of sworn it was Muir of Ord but computer says no. Ord dam maybe?

I've not been there for about 45 years mind you. Google maps shows no ponds so maybe it dried up or got built over

Flying pigs you say? Here’s a video, so it must be true

Swans are too heavy to fly, same as pigs

You don't even know the place you are talking about, how can we trust you about swans flying? Honestly, you people.

Well one has been altered by CGI, the other hasn’t.
Next you’ll be telling us that Nessie is real

No it's not the Loch of Skene. Not very far from there though. Almost certain 'Ord' is part of its name 🤔

                            • Think you’ll find they’ve both been altered on account that swans can’t fly every bit as much as pigs.

                              Ever seen a flying ostrich?
