Interesting appointment. On the surface it is a bit of a coup for Rangers getting Gerrard. They are obviously trying to recapitulate the Souness era by bringing in a manager who can bring in better players based on his reputation.
That's where the positives end - Gerrard was overrated as a player and was a bit of a ned IMO. Ideally suited to Ibrox.
I wonder how long the honeymoon will last, as the orcs will be looking for instant success. Rogers and TGFITW will be seething as well - I suppose it will make for good copy and raise the profile of the game in Scotland.

How many bigname players are gonna sign if they fail to qualify for Europa League?Originally posted by Hairdrier View PostInteresting appointment. If directors were still funding the club, they wouldn't have got the loan from Close Brothers. You wouldn't go to a loan shark, if you're parents offered you the money would you?Originally posted by Red Zone View Postwhen asked on funding King just said Directors would continue to fund the club
Sounds like they're out of ideas and need the fans to fund them. First via season tickets, then by things like club 1872

I was just quoting what he said (the glib and shameful liar) but I agree with you.Originally posted by kb_don View PostIf directors were still funding the club, they wouldn't have got the loan from Close Brothers. You wouldn't go to a loan shark, if you're parents offered you the money would you?

The thing with the club 1872 funding is that none of it actually goes to the club but rather it is buying up shares from existing shareholders to in theory give the orcs a say in the running of their club

Grudgingly have to concede the Gerrard appointment is inspired.
A desperation Hail-Mary (excuse the irony) pass to kick-start the season ticket sales needed to keep the show on the road.
Gerrard has confirmed everyone's suspicions ..... he's a thick cnut who has no idea what he's signed up for. Mind you, if I had £34M in my hipper I'd take the job for a giggle .....

The reality is that a procession of "rich fans making an emotional investment" HAS occurred over the last 6 years - Murray, King, Gilligan, Park, Easdale .....Originally posted by kb_don View PostI really don't know what to make of this.....
In theory they could get a loan, but any savvy investor with enough money would do due diligence and run a mile until it's sorted out. They've had 6 years to find a rich fan to make an emotional investment - that hasn't happened.
Today the story is all about Gerrard - fair enough. To me, however, the main story this week was Paul Murray bugging out. Why would he, who has been centre stage as the archetypal RRM, do walking away just when the j1zz-fest of Gerrard's appointment was about to play out?

Aye, but they have tens of millions. You need someone with hundreds.Originally posted by Landvetter83 View PostThe reality is that a procession of "rich fans making an emotional investment" HAS occurred over the last 6 years - Murray, King, Gilligan, Park, Easdale .....

Ashley had that, but they chased him away

I’ve been wrong many times before but I can’t see this working for Gerrard,a lot of having a good feeling pish in his press conference. At the end of the day the only thing that is going to make a team overtake Celtic is serious investment in a team.
They could appoint one of the best managers in the world and still not catch the pigs with the players they will bring in on their budget,I suspect the likes of Andy Halliday will be spitting his dummy out on him next season when they get pumped in the first cheeks derby.

He’ll be out by christmas.
Being able to thrive under massive expectation on the pitch and affecting things on the pitch as a player is a different science to doing the same as a manger on the sidelines in a foreign league with a severely limited, damaged and skint club.
Coisty the C@nt couldnt manage it and he is hun thru and thru. Why will Gerrard do anything better? Cos he was a better player? Are they fkn mental! This could be the second greatest gift to non-hun fitba fans since the c@nts went bust. An absolute calamity waiting to happen.
4 year deal..LFC U18s coach...he got a special feeling when King Hun phoned him? Heheheh
The blind faith and desperate hope coming out of the unwashed hoardes towards this ridiculous appointment is embarrassing. The worst thing is, our manager and the wimps playing for him will be equally starstruck and in awe of the hollow hype when we play his ****e teams, so really, nothing changes for us. They could have Lulu as manager, Jackie Bird as captain, Chic Dung in goals and we’d still show them far too much respect and ****e it against them home and away. On a positve note, im still going to enjoy watching the wheels fall off at ****brox. Might stick a tenner on Del taking over from Gary Mac in 18months.
