looked pretty deliberate to me, he hesitated first with a slight shuffle ,then hoofed into the defender. who he could clearly see was in the flight path of the cross.

Brilliant. When it comes to Michael Marra, the word legend is underused. Met him a couple of times and he was more than kind about my songwriting, playing one of my songs much better than I could, truly inspiring guy. The wonderful thing is he as a TMSTID fan wrote "Hamish the Goalie" about United's McAlpine (and I like it so much better than the, at the time, entertaining "McAlpine's wife") because "we are not Glaswegian about this sort of thing". Died way too young.

Years and years and years ago many people opined that it was more difficult to win the UEFA Cup (the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, the European Fairs Cup, the Europa League) than it was to win the European Cup - and that is what the European Cup has become - the Champions League which is, in effect, the UEFA Cup.

First all-English final I've been to (no ticket btw). Atmosphere in Madrid? Muted. City centre cordoned off at 4 ish with nobody allowed in. No bars with TVs, nowhere to watch game, no mass of fans in the city centre - English League Cup Final in Madrid.

Would have enjoyed the Junior Cup Final more. But maybe not Hamilton.

Grew up in Ayr and can confirm it’s a hotbed of hunnism. Most the family are huns including an uncle who’s passed away who was a member of a lodge. Tried plenty times to get me to go along to no avail. Managed to grab my wee brother though who I have the odd tasty exchange with
