Makes me laugh when I hear folk say “we’re two games away from a tournament”.

1) does anyone have any confidence that Scotland would beat Bulgaria or Romania in the first game? At a push, maybe.
2) no way Scotland are beating Norway or Siberia. Even at home it’s unlikely.
Away? No chance. Serbia have lost one in 10 at home, Norway haven’t lost at home in 3 years.
Dreaming if you think a Scotland team who can’t beat Kazakhstan are qualifying for anything.

And it’s just as well.
Can you imagine Scotland playing England, France or the likes just now?
It would be 5+

Clarke carefully chose his words by saying that qualification would mean that fans would get a chance to see their team play at the finals.
Fair point with regards to us not having qualified since 1998, but as you point out, were likely to be the whipping boys / park the bus / negative team in the tournament.
