Frank's hat trick against Hearts was superb ! there was one goal don't think the ball touched the ground. Dougie Bell to Weir to Frank blasted like a rocket into the net. "Fat" Frank was something else.

I think the next home game he scored a hat-trick against der hūn.

      • Those on here that seen Frank in his pomp, do you reckon he would have beats Joeys record if he had stayed fit and with us for a few more years?

        • McDougall’s goals helped the Dons win the league championship with the highlight coming in his hat-trick to clinch the title in a 3-0 win against Hearts at Tynecastle.
Another factual error. Our title win was celebrated after the 1–1 draw with the Tims ar Pittodrie, but was confirmed when the Tims didn’t win a midweek game between our fixtures with them, and the Tynecastle drubbing.

It's hard to say, I think it's unlikely.
With his lifestyle and physique he was never going to enjoy career longevity.

But if he'd stayed fit, and if Fergie hadn't left, he'd have maybe had a chance.

            • Harper’s lifestyle and physique was beyond reproach of course.

Fat Frank was a great player but he was never going to reach King Joey’s total.

He didn’t have the time to, even if he’d stayed fit.

I looked up the Tims’ results after we all but won it at Pittodrie on 27.04.85 with 22653 attending.

                01.05.85 Huns at home. 1-1. Att: 40079
                04.05.85 TMSTID at home. 0-1 Att: 8815
                11.05.85 Dumbarton at home. 2-0 Att: 6514

“Over and over, we will follow you”. My ****ing arris.

Aye, but Joe did a lit of the heavy lifting in his first spell, when youth counteracts excess.
We never got hold of Frank until he was, what, 26 or thereby.
He'd have had to play until he was about 34 in a team creating chances, to get near the King.
If we'd gotten hold of Frank at 21 he'd have been right in the frame.

                  • Joe also played from 69-72 an in 18 club division, where there was a significant quotient of cannon fodder, although Frankie treated the huns, the tims, the Argos huns et al in the ten club Premier Division with similar disdain.

It’s been a privilege, as a dinosaur (I have a good collection of Tyrranosaurus Rex and T Rex records) to have seen Messrs Harper, Archibald, McDougall, Shearer, and Rooney bang them in for us. Miovski’s looking good also.

I’m trying hard to forget Andy Harrow and Keith Edwards, like.

                        Was Porteous not involved

Willie Miller elbowed his dad in the face when he tried to get a Fannies’ penalty by wrestling with the skipper. NOBODY fuucked with Willie Miller. He’d sort oot the pansy wide boy playing for Hibs in the first ten minutes.

Indeed it was porteous with a deft flick on to Frank. Just on porteous, as a player I thought he was brilliant. One of the best goals I've seen at Pittodrie was his screamer against the deed club when Jock Wallace was back in charge. What actually happened to Porteous?
