  • How do we go forward ???

Clearly what needs to happen now is to examine and record why we were such a good club in the late 50's early 60's and begin to develop in that manner. I do realise there are more ways to build a team such as AI but these can be developed once we are on the way to a recovery position.

One thing that help us as a club is to develop younger players and play them in gradual doses until they become established. The number of very young players who became household names was prolific but no longer I cannot see if/how our current crop of youngsters can ever make the first team this is clearly a significant weakness. We very often got the better young players because they were given early chances to be introduced to the first team.

We are way behind as far as younger players are concerned and if it does not change radically then we might as well stop funding the youth teams as they contribute nothing to our club.

Just look at the methodology adopted by the likes of Brentford it is all their on the internet so we should be able to develop in a similar way it is not all based on AI.

The thing is we must be able to bring in someone who is passionate about developing a methodology that incorporates past successes and include up to date new methods that are available.

I do not know how such thoughts/ideas get channelled to Alan Pace but maybe someone on this board has an avenue or contact for positive contributions like this and other ideas to be considered by the likes of Alan Pace.

We had the run on other clubs in the late 50s and early 60s lancy, our good mate in the north-east once described how a local scout he was familiar with unearthed talent that would be worth billions today. Brian O'Neil for one.

Pace is trying but failing, I'm in Spain at present and the Espanola fans are not overly impressed with him either. "Moneyball" is only appropriate if you have loads of it.

Totally agree with you BT I find it baffling that we cant recreate past successes but adding any more up to date methodologies.

Parker will be gone soon Lancaster I?m sure , hw himself must now it?s toxic now ( just wants his money ) I?d guess.

Let?s see if me Pace and crew actually listen to the fans and can learn from their mistakes - loyalty so called is admirable but in the cold light of day in our situation imo anyway it?s been stupid and as you rightly say the club has / is suffering through incompetence

Army dead right. How do reasonable threads like this one get to Alan Pace, maybe he would at least consider and act accordingly.

Just in reply to the question the thread title asks, I don't think we do go forward. With potless and cluelss owners whose proposed MO has gone up in smoke, we can only go backwards. Just staying in the Championship next season will be tricky. IMO.

I'm staying next door to an Espanyol fan and his family, before ALK took over they were chasing a Champions League spot, suddenly relegation is a distinct reality. El no feliz.

It's got so bad I'm not even arsed to go on the Turf tomorrow. What's the point?

BT agree with you and now I face a dilemma do I want to renew my season ticket?? Absolutely fed op of a business man who is incapable of taking a difficult decision when that is needed.

Lancaster we can blame Pace as long as we want but reality is the manager - staff and the players haven?t applied themselves correctly ( majority anyway ).

I tend to agree with a lot of your views on what?s gone on but for me I?m disgusted at what?s happening day to day - another manager would have got far more out of this set of players imo anyway.

Parker?s getting away Scott free ( unintended pun ) that but he is imo anyway

Spurs in the Championship along with Burnley.

Who would ever have thought it?
