It's not just the FIFA World Cup that is besieged by visa and other issues. The Darts World Cup starts today in Germany. African Champions Uganda were refused visas. African runners up, Malawi, were asked to take their place. They too had visa requests turned. The spot has now been filled by Gibraltar.

That must be Trump imposing himself and his demands on the German (EU) border controls I'd expect. Unless it was somehow Farage

You'd think them and those participating in the WC would have been vetted in advance.

        Can't be that difficult

To be fair vetting is a continuous exercise and things can change rapidly so doing it months ahead of time may miss something

Fixed at last. Kevin Sinfield has been knighted. Only the second RL player ever to be knighted after Billy Boston.
Hero on the pitch (albeit for Leeds )…absolute hero to the MND community and an example to all off it.
Long overdue. Not sure how many Sir Kevins there are. Thanks Charlie.

I didn't say months. If they can find time to interview those involved on arrival for hours on end they could have found time to vett them in the days or weeks before the tournament started.

Someone cleared to travel 10 days before is hardly going to become a terrorist in those days.

Canada managed to tell Partey in advance before he travelled he wouldn't be allowed entry.

Too much common sense there, Sith.

Big weekend of sport for the racing enthusiasts, a rare occasion of an F1 race and Le Mans happening on the same weekend. Shout out for a local success story if that?’s allowed, 19 cars on the Le Mans grid are powered by engines made by Gibson Technologies in Repton

Vaguely related but the Indy 500 wasn't on the same weekend as the Monaco GP this year. Have things become misaligned?

My son is at LeMans probably been pissed since Thursday. Those were the days when I could have done that

                            Simply lack of practice GP.

What a result in F1, Lewis back on top of an all British podium

                              Fantastic

... and Nyck de Vries was one of the winning drivers team at le Mans.

First UK 1,2,3 in an F1 race since 1968 which is way too long ago.

... and Nyck de Vries was one of the winning drivers team at le Mans. Both my nations doing well in cars over the weekend.
