2018- merkel and macron https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...ission-miltary
What Johnson says, is not what anyone here endorses about a European army.
He was on about the threat to NATO by talk of this crap.
Does Macron and Merkel really believe Putin is more scared of Germany/France/Poland/Romania?
Or Germany/France/UK/USA?
Silly little men from silly little countries like Luxemburg/Belgium pushing this.

Lol...don’t - thankfully - share your view of Europe, don’t share your political standpoints so it must be me living in a bubble.Originally posted by Trickytreesreds View PostNo I'm not.
When I hear, Juncker/Macron/Verhofstadt scream about ever closer union/an army/ one border/ one currency and take a look at how close they've got to that inside 40 years. Then it is inevitable that at some point they will achieve it. Masstricht/ then Lisbon brought that ever closer. Deny it/ignore it all you want, it's happening right now.
What ever the differences are, there or not, it isn't stopping them is it|?
We joined a group of nine similar countries, for a trade agreement. Fact /or fiction?
What has changed since then? Have we had a vote on it?
If you really do not believe that the EU is driving towards a superstate, when words like "empire" with it's own "army" are being used.
Then I bow to your bubble that you live in.

Not embarrassed to say I have a place in Spain, it’s acquisition a matter of good fortune it’s condition down to my own considerable and actual blood and sweatOriginally posted by Geoff Parkstone View PostI didn't answer the question but rather focused the question further on the two hispanophiles that are site resident. That's what the funny hook like mark means
I’m aware of the tax issues, we don’t rent it out, already pay non residents tax and our approach to tax (in general) is that marginal changes are a ‘bump in the road’ and can be absorbed. That’s not arrogant late Middle Aged prosperity talking it’s an attitude I‘ve always had

Is this the real reason Cameron went for the referendum? Even more so than the wish to unite his party?

We start with 9 countries of similar standing.
Now at 28 including 19 negative contributors.
Yet we have a flag/anthem/a new currency/law system/soon to be army/ ever closer ruling by Brussels.
I'm glad you don't have to forecast anything to do with this countries defence.
Neville thought like you. He couldn't see trouble when it smashed him in the face like a shovel either.

1. No one ever suggested they didn’t want the Economic Union to grow.
2. The argument that a purpose of any European Union would be to benefit the pursuit of lasting peace in a troubled continent, which for the first half of the Twentieth Century had been ruined by War, is nothing new.
3. Yes there’s an EU flag...it flies alongside all the other national flags...not instead of them.
4. Yes there’s an EU anthem...so what? No national anthem has subsequently been abandoned.
5. Yes the EU has its own currency...unless I’ve missed something they haven’t insisted we sacrifice the £ and join the €.
6. Yes there’s a European Supreme Court but when was the last time matters relating to the this or any other European country had its will imposed upon them?
7. ‘Soon to be army’. Says who? Says you...where’s the evidence? As MA said only yesterday the nations are too disparate. We don’t even have the commonality of language that they do in the USA. There is no evidence that there are plans for an USE army and the role is already largely performed by NATO.

Is that your answer?
FFS, you do live in a bubble. There is already joint actions NOW!!
Why do you fail to comprehend the evolvment of what is already past?
Yes, as MA says, it isn't logical. WE HAVE NATO.
Last time I looked NATO was a co operation of multiple speaking languages, so don't talk tosh.
But NATO is good enough for the EU. They want and will keep pushing for their own army. I have to ask why?
You want plans, open your ears?
BTW Clegg denied everything as well.

Lol, I know you struggle to be polite these days to anyone who disagrees with you, but do you really expect to be taken seriously when you seek to substantiate a point by quoting Kipper Central? No bias or not so hidden agenda there then.Originally posted by Trickytreesreds View PostIs that your answer?

What is this ‘living in a bubble’ bollux you repeat in virtually every reply?
We just disagree...and the difference between NATO and an EU Army is that the former involves the armies and governments of different countries working together as allies...quite different from the formation of one disparate army that you are so obsessed with.Last edited by ramAnag; 23-10-2019, 01:24 PM.

Fair enough Parky...maybe I should have qualified that one...when was the last time the European Court imposed something detrimental upon our country or its citizens?Originally posted by Geoff Parkstone View Post6. The list is too long to replicate here, but you can google it as well as I
I can’t think of one. Can’t think of a single instance of the European Court passing a judgement which has negatively impinged on our way of life.

Thats a fairly difficult one to quantify as it depends on ones definition of "negatively impinged"
For someone who believes that feminism has completely destroyed conventional childhoods in UK, I suppose anything that relates to gender equality might, by some, be considered negative! For someone who believes workers should have no rights........

Of course...but, pedantry aside, as you (probably) and most ‘civilised’ folk do now believe that workers do have rights and that gender equality is a force for good, then can you come up with an example of the European Courts imposing something detrimental on our country?Originally posted by Geoff Parkstone View PostThats a fairly difficult one to quantify as it depends on ones definition of "negatively impinged"

I honestly can’t and can only think of things which have been generally beneficial...but that’s probably because of that ‘bubble’ I apparently inhabit according to our semi resident red dog ukipper.
