Not quite, mac. I like an intelligent debate...not arguing with TTR...and it is a slightly different argument, mista.Originally posted by macstheman View PostTTR and rA love a good verbal Brexit punch-up and I love taking a ring-side view!
Don't spoilv the fun Mists lol.
GP makes a fair point...and I stand - partially - corrected. It just seems nonsensical, imo, not to delay in the circumstances.
AF...most threads on here attract an average of about 15 replies and last for 2-3 days. This one has attracted 6287 replies and lasted for four years...don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

The problem most folks will reject a delay is simple.
After 3 years of farting about, by the same individuals trying to over turn Brexit. They are sick of hearing it.
Who's screaming the loudest now? The money people?
No, it's Khan/SNP/ same MP's who told us the world will implode without the EU.
Sorry RA, but your concerns are nothing to do with what's best. They are and always will be anything to reverse that decision.

Absolute tripe...I’m suggesting a delay...not a reversal.Originally posted by Trickytreesreds View Post

It may have escaped your attention but we had the worst incidence of Covid in the whole of Europe. We have more to come back from and should be working with the rest of Europe - and the World - to overcome Covid, not in some sort of competition.
As most business leaders agree, now is not the time to proceed with Brexit. You’re just frightened that somehow a ‘delay’ equates to an abandonment...a view apparently shared by our narcissistic leader who is just concerned about delaying his ‘Let’s get Brexit done’ vanity project.
In all walks of life, if you make plans and in the meantime things go completely pear shaped, it’s best to take stock and change the plan/timeframe. That’s true, imo, in everything from war, to sport, to travel, to relationships...but not, according to you, where Brexit is concerned.

We've had it all from legal challenges/protests/MP blockages/ house of Lords blockages/ demands for more votes and on and on and on.
Unless a leaver says, we need a rethink, no one will trust any of you.
Delay, delay, delay has always been a tactic and used for over 3 years.
It could have been sorted 2 years ago, but for you dummy spitters.

So, you might agree if I hadn’t opposed Brexit, but according to you...only the opinions of ‘Leavers’ can be trusted...despite the fact that the circumstances in this country and around the whole world have changed unrecognisably since June 2016 and even last December.
What a strange and simplistic world you seem to inhabit...one where you’ll happily accept the words of a proven liar over reasoning which does nothing more than query the wisdom of proceeding as planned in such a dramatically changed World.Last edited by ramAnag; 12-07-2020, 02:22 PM.

Why should Merkel do anything it's our problem ,it's our handover agreement China are trying to break Or does wanting EU countries to help us only suit Brexeteers some of the time . Cummings and Bumble have made it clear that they will not go down the Trump route and impose trade and financial sanctions on China . Much easier to just offer sanctuary to 150,000 Hong Kong citizensOriginally posted by Trickytreesreds View Post£££££££££££££££££££££££££ £££££££
That's what they are after. An extension suits them as we get hit with the corona bail out.
It also plays into your line then, but but but we are paying more money in with no say in the EU .
We delay anything, our hands are tied doing anything. Stop negotiating/don't sign anything without our say so/ keep paying.
This doesn't have to be painful. It's as hard as the EU wants it to be. It may have escaped your notice, but COVID hurt them as well.
I suggest you listen to the EU parliament conversations. Their discontent at the lack of a deal is growing.
It always gets twisted on how terrible it is for us?
On an off note, did you take note of Verhofstadt this week? I don't particularly like the man, as he's a hardened federalist. Yet had to agree with him this week. His slaughtering of Merkel and Germany over China, was spot on.
The EU chief suggested "Selling cars" to China was "More important" to Germany than taking a "Firm stance" on Beijing.
His remarks come as German Chancellor Angela Merkel comes under increasing amounts of pressure to do more to defend Hong Kong over China's controversial new security law.
Mrs Merkel is said to have taken a light touch approach to China because of Germany's huge trade reliance on the country.
The criticism comes after it was believed Germany would take a hardline approach against China when it resumed the rotating presidency of the European Union.
Ms Merkel previously said of China: "We have a trade relationship, but we have different societal and political views, particularly when it comes to human rights and the rule of law."
Naw, nothing gets in the way of German supremecy, even the EU

I think you need to speak to the EU then and the EU leadership on their stance.
European leaders have condemned China’s decision to bring in a sweeping new security law in Hong Kong aimed at stamping out protests in the semi-autonomous territory.
The European Council said the legislation enacted by Beijing on Tuesday was “deplorable”, while the European Commission said it would seriously damage China’s reputation around the world.
“This law risks seriously undermining the high degree of autonomy of Hong Kong and having a detrimental effect on the independence of the judiciary and rule of law, and we deplore this decision,” said European Council President Charles Michel.
So on one hand we have the United States of Europe and in the other, Merkel says as long as it doesn't effect us.
Or did you miss the point?

None of you are to be trusted, you've proven that over 3 years of moaning and back door manouvering.
It's your own doing. I'll say again, if you lot had an ounce of democratic decency in you, it would have been done and dusted 2 years ago.
But that is what you have made sure you avoided.
I don't see any mass screaming to put the brakes on from anyone, but the same mouth pieces. Send for EU girl and Steve Bray with a mega phone. That'll work.

I really can’t argue with someone who believes anyone who supported ‘Remain’ is untrustworthy but the likes of Johnson, Cummings and Farage are the personification of integrity.
That’s just complacent nonsense Tricky.
Perhaps you should just stick to the point and answer...is it a good idea to still aim for the Brexit negotiations to be completed by the end of the year given the current and ongoing national and international health and financial crises, and if so why? Maybe then you’d be worth listening to.

Yes all that condemnation from the EU you hate No point to miss if you don't want to be in EU then don't expect them fight our battles for us She only doing the same as our government putting trade and finance first Of course we deplore what is going on there but if all our PM can come up with is an open door to the Hong Kong residents then it's time he stood down Perhaps you would like to tell us what Cummings should tell him to do At the end of the day there's very little you can do to anybody when you need them more than they need youOriginally posted by Trickytreesreds View PostReally?

I’ll provide a sensible answer and that’s no it’s not, but the transition shouldn’t go on forever, maybe end 2021. Gotta say some of the more in denial Remainers are starting to find their voice again and HMG will want to slap that development down for reason nothing more complex than protecting their position in powerOriginally posted by ramAnag View PostI really can’t argue with someone who believes anyone who supported ‘Remain’ is untrustworthy but the likes of Johnson, Cummings and Farage are the personification of integrity.
