Come alll ye (2005) although better known for songs recorded by PentangleOriginally posted by ramAnag View PostDon’t think she was ever in Fairport Convention, Gunt...but I agree about the rest, although it’s a long time since my copy of Pentangle’s ‘Basket of Light’ was last unfolded.

DJBigBossMan to the rescue... Jacqui McShee was indeed a member of Fairport Convention. She is a British folk singer and became part of Fairport Convention in 1968. McShee's ethereal vocals contributed to the band's unique sound and their exploration of traditional English folk music. She performed on several of their albums, including "What We Did on Our Holidays" (1969), "Unhalfbricking" (1969), and "Liege & Lief" (1969), which is considered a landmark folk-rock album. McShee left Fairport Convention in 1970 but reunited with the band for various projects and performances over the years.

Sorry MA...not important but I have to disagree. The two most notable female Fairport vocalists were Judy Dyble and, of course, Sandy Denny.Originally posted by MadAmster View PostDJBigBossMan to the rescue... Jacqui McShee has indeed ‘guested’ and performed ‘with’ Fairport Convention but was never, to the best of my knowledge, an actual member of the band.
Searching for members of Fairport Convention you’ll come up with at least thirty individuals but I can find no mention of JM as anything other than an occasional contributor and she was definitely a founder member of Pentangle from late 1966 through the years you describe.Last edited by ramAnag; 27-05-2023, 02:27 PM.

Sorry, ram, I don't want to split hairs but I never suggested she was anything other than an occasional contributor to FC, merely that I associated her with the band. Your mention of her made me recall Come all Ye. You're very defintely right about her founding Pentangle though. Among her songs wlly ow winbury stands out to me as something special.Originally posted by ramAnag View PostSorry MA...not important but I have to disagree. Absolutely, Jacqui McShee was never a member of Fairport Convention, she has been a guest singer at the Cropredy festival, but then so has Robert Plant!! But was never a member. I am on nodding terms with some of the band and have followed them since 1976, with never a year going by without seeing them live at least once.Originally posted by Geoff Parkstone View PostI'm with you, rA

Don't be fooled by GP's comparison. She knocked out a few decent songs for FC. She didn't stagger on stage, not knowing what day it was, head spinning, miming the lyrics from the previous song then finally falling flat on her face.Originally posted by ramAnag View PostYou rest my case!
Old Debbie speaks very highly of you too, Gunts.

Yes very old. A sweet little dear, with an empty bottle of blonde stuff!
