I've just looked at the list of candidates for Rochdale - there are 3 candidates that have been disowned by labour - including the candidate standing for labour!! Then there are a handful standing on local issues, a just stop oil protesting vicar with Parkinson's, a candidate deliberately targeting getting no votes and a few others. Assuming the Tory won't get much support, one of that rag tag collection will get elected. Even against that lot I don't see the Libdem getting any votes. What a ****ing mess British politics is ☹️

Are you saying Barnsley is right wing?Originally posted by ramAnag View PostTbf it’s been taken that way by a combination of circumstances and the return of our most right wing contributor outside of Barnsley.
A thread like this is always going to be topical and in an attempt to detract from some more important issues and appeal to the populist mentality amongst a minority of the electorate I expect the right whingers to make as much political capital out of fears regarding Muslims and immigration as they can. Smoke and mirrors.
Hilarious
"People's Republic of South Yorkshire" or "Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire" were nicknames often given to South Yorkshire under the left-wing local governments of the 1980s, especially the municipal socialist administration of Sheffield City Council led by David Blunkett, used by both detractors and supporters of the councils. The councils pursued a social policy radically different from that of Margaret Thatcher's national government, following more closely along the lines of Militant tendency-dominated Liverpool City Council and the Greater London Council led by Ken Livingstone.
What you really mean is, it's an inconvenient topic that highlights Labours ANTI SEMITIC hardcore, especially since the anount of muslims in its ranks.
It seems Gaza is more important to them, them than the healh service/ jobs/ cost of living.
Yep, GP is right, it an absolute **** show of politicians in this country.

Probably be a record low turnout. Tory candidate Is a well respected person locally and might be the best candidate but being a Tory and all he wont get in.Originally posted by Geoff Parkstone View PostI've just looked at the list of candidates for Rochdale - there are 3 candidates that have been disowned by labour - including the candidate standing for labour!! Erm…not quite Tricky. I think you’ve missed the point in your haste to have another rant.Originally posted by Trickytreesreds View PostAre you saying Barnsley is right wing?

Perhaps you’ve been away too long, but in your absence, another contender for most right wing poster has emerged. He’s not as prolific as you but perhaps even more extreme. Even appears contemptuous of Muslim cricketers representing England…perish the thought…and he seems to think there are too many black footballers too!
The name is Gunteryy36 and he happens to come from…..(drum roll…..) Barnsley. You’ll like him.Last edited by ramAnag; 29-02-2024, 05:51 PM.

Imagine they’ll only be in position for about six months before a proper Labour candidate is elected at the next GE so it doesn’t really matter.Originally posted by SithHappens View PostProbably be a record low turnout. Don't know him. But one right winger in an oasis of Scargill country doesn't, make that area remotely so.Originally posted by ramAnag View PostErm…not quite Tricky. I think you’ve missed the point in your haste to have another rant.

Fun facts for you,
51.3 % decribe themselves as Christian
42.1% describe themselves as no religion.
Yet funnily enough, the Muslim problem of Gaza is the main "VOTE FOR ME" slogan of at least 2 main candidates.
You wonder why someone from Barnsley goes full bananas right wing?

Are you suggesting Mr Ali wasn't a proper Labour candidate? I think Sunak and Starmer are both trying to hold a tiger by the tail, just different tigers. Someone said elsewhere something like 'this isn't a big issue with voters', I totally beg to differ and think 'it' will be a vote winner for both sides depending on GE candidates stated or assumed viewsOriginally posted by ramAnag View PostImagine they’ll only be in position for about six months before a proper Labour candidate is elected at the next GE so it doesn’t really matter.

No…I’m suggesting that at the GE there’ll be a carefully vetted and appropriate Labour candidate who will be a ‘shoe in’ in a place like Rochdale regardless of who wins tonight.Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostAre you suggesting Mr Ali wasn't a proper Labour candidate? 1. Vote for me, I'm putting Muslim issues first, even those not in the country
2. Vote for me, I'm not letting immigrants dictate the tone of politics in this country.
RESULT= MP'S NOW IN THE FIRING LINE , depending on their stance on the topic
You are not sitting on the sidelines anymore boys and girls

Who’s suggested there isn’t a problem? There are obviously huge problems, both worldwide and domestically but George Galloway is almost an irrelevance.Originally posted by Trickytreesreds View Postso Gallaway wins in grooming gang utopia, on the back of Gaza first?
Still don't think there's a problem?

He’s stepped in, in his inimitable way, to fill a vacuum and take personal advantage. It’s typical Galloway, the other Parties, including those more likely to have your support, couldn’t profit from Labour’s c@ck up, but he’ll still be gone at the General Election when he’s replaced by a more carefully selected Labour candidate.
Funny thing, as Andy has already intimated, there was very little of the ‘Muslim bashing’ stuff on this thread prior to your return. I think it took you about two posts before the ‘grooming gang’, ‘terrorist’, they’re taking over the world anti Muslim rants started…so there is a problem, yes…and folk like you are a huge part of it.

No RA, the pronblem is with folks like you, who have ignored the problem/excused it/ covered it up. It has grown and festered and been allowed to spread its tentacles throughout the system.Originally posted by ramAnag View PostWho’s suggested there isn’t a problem? There was 100+ Labour MP's who wanted Labour to have a pro palestine stance before Sir Hoyle was hung out to dry,
Starmer didn't want to confront it either.
Little tip for you, Islamophobia wants everyone to not criticise Islam and be quiet. This is the result.
Give it long enough, blasphemy laws will be next.
You talk about me, but lets take Gallaway, whos tapped into a growing cult that goes against everything that's considered fair in Britain.
Starmer needs to sort his house out fast, as remnants of the Corbyn regime are growing in bravery.
GP was/is right British politics is a right mess.
The chaos of Sweden isn't that far away, sorry for talking about it.

I’m not disputing that GP is right and that ‘British politics is a right mess’, but to say that I’ve ‘ignored, excused and covered up’ the problem is laughable…and the only thing Galloway has tapped into is the vacuum left by the absence of an official Labour candidate and the fact that over 60% of Rochdale’s electorate stayed at home.Originally posted by Trickytreesreds View PostNo RA, the pronblem is with folks like you, who have ignored the problem/excused it/ covered it up.
