Reinforcing my own, MA and TTR's assertion that there's nothing to choose between the blues or reds, today's news snippets include the observations that Keir Starmer has gladhanded the same middle eastern heads of state that he castigated Boris Johnson for in the recent past, and Angela Rayner, having described Boris as scum for, amongst other things, employing a personal photographer, has now done exactly the same. Clearly they both knew they were out of order in their respective actions, because they put up Angela Eagle to fend off the press with her God-given skill of providing answers so convoluted even the interviewer usually wishes they'd not bothered asking

Keep up AF! The so called personal photographer was reported months ago, although in point of fact it isn't a personal photographer, but a government one and not new idea. Rayner didn't call Johnson scum, she called the Tories that for their policy of scapegoating the poorest in society.

As for Starmer the middle eastern heads of state, well even the most principled politician (and I don't put Starmer in that group) recognises that whatever the morals of a situation, a country (especially a small one like the UK) has to have relationships with a range of other country's whose rules, philosophies etc may not be ideal. Only the US is big enough to throw its weight around and even then has done plenty of dubious deals and alliances in order to achieve what it sees as its aims.

This is of course the reality of Brexit, that having isolated the UK from its biggest trading and political partner, the UK is forced to reach accommodation with almost any country that may offer it what it requires, whether that be investment or trade.

There is if one considers the matter properly a massive difference between the Tories and Labour, the Tories are edging further right and Labour are in the centre right ground once occupied by the Tories. Thats nothing new, Blair's whole electoral strategy and a successful one was recognising that for whatever reason the bulk of the electorate was centre right. I mean it doesn't take a genius to understand why the Conservatives have been in power more often than Labour.

Quite why people consistently vote for a political party that has always focussed on supporting the rich and wealthy and thrown a few scraps to the rest of us is a puzzle. But then so is the enthusiasm for reform, a party funded by elite billionaires, who clearly want deregulation, less rights for workers etc. etc, and is led by a bloke who has made millions from being a politician but has never actually achieved anything that actually benefits the average person. I mean are people really so dim they can't see this? I guess the answer has to be yes.

Actually, with the exception of LTN which was just a poor man’s Till Death…, I could easily have chosen those too, especially Fawlty Towers and Yes Minister but he did say don’t think about it.

If you ever fancy a trip to the 40s, Duckett Passage is just off Columbia St, about a 15 minute walk from Old St tube station. The wife and I took a trip there earlier this year, and had a pint at The Royal Oak - thankfully they took my card as payment as I didn't have any shillings with me. I can't say anymore, careless talk and that.

Knowing Reform will Trash Labour in the local elections, Starmer is stopping the elections in key areas where they fear defeat.
Starmer’s government is silencing voters under the guise of restructuring.
Ironically- Labour claims Reform UK is a “threat to democracy”
