So you think a minority of people in your village (sorry, actually one person) ‘hijacking’s flag poles’ is symptomatic of the UK losing its culture do you? Honestly?

My ‘berkas slipping’. What’s that meant to mean? Not as much as your grasp of common sense it would seem…and my comment (relayed from Germany) was simply to illustrate how dependent various services have become on those who’ve arrived from abroad, it wasn’t designed to set off one of your rants, but hey ho.
It's not just Germany that's becoming dependent on imported labour in public sectors... It's prevalent in UK maybe even to a greater extent, and not just in low pay environments. I am now almost surprised to encounter a "WASP" in daily life, from Uber drivers to nurses to hospital porters to doctors and consultants, cleaners baristas, even accountants and lawyers. It's no longer just the jobs the indigenous population didn't want to do, but across all sectors and remuneration grade.

We are I would suggest so far into dependence on imported labour (including 2nd and 3rd generation) that it's a hole we can't get out of if we wanted to. Services would collapse if we "made Britain white again"

Which is not to say we should take all the illegal migrants that would not pass the "missing skills in the UK marketplace" rest but we have to face the facts that UK is an evolving community. The sooner we can focus on togetherness rather than differences the better - but this is a two way commitment to tolerance and I fear we are bending over too far backwards in favour of imported culture at the expense of our own.

Well at least that’s an intelligent response. I don’t entirely agree with the second half of the final sentence but I can understand how some might feel that way and I’m sure it’s a view based on something more significant than one person ‘hijacking village flagpoles’.
For me the phrases, ‘the UK is an evolving community’ and ‘the sooner we can focus on togetherness rather than differences the better’ are key…and yes I agree, it does need to be a ‘two way commitment’.

?and to paraphrase an acquaintance of mine who recently quit her NHS job ?I felt like an outside in a business where immigrants tend to immigrants?

?.which yet again exposes your by now rather boring tactics - a point is made which you don?t agree with. You demand examples. You get examples. You belittle, without researching, the examples and belittle the person who offered them. I will break with my normal restraint and say God help any student you ever disagreed with. I observe that you embrace any anecdote that sides with you despite some recently, and I?m now not surprised you were unaware, being no more than urban myths

Andy, what you’ve written tonight is rubbish. I’m sorry but that’s the truth. Without going back into history, because this isn’t the first time, if you’re asked for examples of how UK culture is being eroded and the best you can come up with is a minority (no, ONE person) who hijacked some flagpoles in ‘your village’ then you’ve lost the argument and as regards your last sentence, it isn’t even intelligible.

You and I will often disagree, that’s almost the point of a forum, but you really do need to have a good look at what you’ve written tonight.

I'm feeling that my standing of always disagreeing with you is being usurped. Time to act to restore the status quo. Sink the boats. Put the illegals in council property in Nottingham, they will soon want to return to point of origin. But most of all stop disadvantaging our own homeless and benefits dependent sub classes with preferences to boat people.

                  Hg a, that's better

Did what? Exposed a bit of casual racism? Yes you’re probably right, it’s a habit of mine. Honestly, just think about the implications of what you’ve written/repeated…that the NHS is prioritising immigrants. It’s just totally unfounded jibberish. You have a think and leave me to watch the rugby please.

So you dismiss a lovely, hard-working woman with an experience-based insight as racist, people with your mentality who pull the racist card at the slightest excuse really cause more harm than good. She isn?t suggesting that NHS are prioritising immigrants, nor did I write such, again it?s your trigger-happy response mechanism coming into play

With all due respect, I clearly have no idea whether she’s is a ‘lovely hard-working woman’ or not. How would I?
What you’ve written is that she left the NHS because she felt it to be, and I quote, ‘a business where immigrants tend to immigrants’.
Questioning that sentiment isn’t me being ‘trigger happy’ or playing any ‘racist card’, but perhaps you’d explain how her suggestion isn’t a) rubbish and b) racist.

P.S. If it helps…I obviously haven’t the figures for how many patients are immigrants, but the percentage of the UK population that fits that description is around 16% and apparently around 19% of NHS staff were born elsewhere. You might want to consider that before repeating such ludicrous assertions

                        • Based solely on evidence of a month in hospitals last year I'd say staff 80% immigrant / 2nd or 3rd generation immigrant and 10% patient of similar origin. Sample restricted to male patients only, across 2 hospitals - one in London, 1i in Surrey

Actually similar to mine in the area of elective/inpatient surgery but it?s not all about numbers, my consultant (an Indian, sorry no idea of generation) has such bad English that I?ve had to have my condition explained to me more than once by one of his colleagues (also Indian) with perfect English. I?d have happily expanded on my friend (ironically also an immigrant and one I?ve mentioned before)?s frustrations, but don?t see any point when we have someone shouting ?you?re a racist!? at any sign of deviation from his party line
