C’mon, GP. You’re better than that.
Setting everything else aside, for me MA’s post #3113 hits the nail on the head and it’s a point that you - and those you seek to defend - seem mightily reluctant to address. Why?

Mm then all I can say is your rather clever at subtly and often not so subtly making statements that align perfectly with the views of a person who is right of centre and on occasion go further right than that. I mean I'm able to accept that your disguising your centre left view very cleverly, but suspect its your own assessment of where you are on the political spectrum thats colouring that!

After all, its generally the case that conservatives and I use a small c deliberately, think they are on the whole liberal minded and don't hold certain extreme views.

I mean your statement that there is an over representation of ethnic minorities on TV and media which doesn't reflect the world you live, does rather demonstrate, 1) a lack of awareness that maybe your world view is narrow and 2) For some reason the ethnicity of a person troubles you somewhat.

A YouTube video about leftist ?rent a crowds? - the vid doesn?t make the point very well but there is a point to be made

Timing of Labour announcement re grooming enquiries - he has a point

Claim that more people were sanctioned for protesting grooming than carrying out grooming - not sure where the numbers came from so that one needed challenging. No-one bothered

Opinion that Labour?s tactics are because they are scared of losing the Muslim vote - widely discussed even in mainstream media now, worthy of discussion in terms of truth and, if true, implications

Comparison in general of labour parliamentary tactics with similar Tory tactics - not sure it is a like for like comparison but worthy of discussion

Opinion that there?s no difference between the two major parties - worthy of discussion but an opinion already shared by a number of forum members

None of the above deserves any forum member to be ostracised, or for that matter to be referred to repeatedly as ?dim?. To do so actually suggests to me an inability in such people to form a sensible response
FFS! I try to credit you with at least a basic ability to think and you post this! Of course there is some truth in what he posts!! That's the basic right wing play book, which Farage amongst others do all the time, precisely to make people who either can't or won't think a bit deeper, that what their saying is completely true.

I stopped engaging with our Red Friend when I knew I could predict what he would post on here. A verbatim repeat of the latest exaggerated, riddled with lies and falsehoods statement that Farage or some other right wing media, internet source had just put out. I mean if he did this but added some evidence that he'd actually thought about it and considered other sources before posting, it wouldn't be so bad, but he rarely does.

Why the **** would any intelligent person with a life, bother to challenge or engage with somebody who from the evidence, lacks the capability to assess what's real and what's false, makes no attempt to research the subjects he is so fond of posting on and when challenged or shown to have posted rubbish or insults or fake news, doesn't acknowledge it?

If you really had gone back through this guys posts, you'd have uncovered a lot more unsavoury opinion, fake news and regurgitated right wing twaddle. I'll waste no more time on the tw@t, too much discussion already on somebody who has a demonstrated history on this Forum and Forestmad of posting nasty comments and utter rubbish.

He is on ignore for me and I will no longer mention or engage with him, for those whose lives are so impoverished that they find his contributions useful, carry on waste your time.

?which is going to be a REAL wrench for you, evidenced by the fact that 11 of your last 13 posts have been about the same subject, TTR?

I thought I was good at getting under peoples? skin but TTR has left me in the shade this time, and without really trying!

For my part, I?ll take his posts at face value, agree where I indeed do, challenge where I don?t and admonish him when he spouts *******s -as indeed I will with you. Gotta be even handed about things

Nope, won't bother me at all, just agreeing with those who think the guy is best ignored, saves time for useful debate.

I'm not surprised you will take his posts at face value, (any sentient person wouldn't based on what he has posted in the past) you agree with much of what he posts and have in the past expressed similar views, though in a much more subtle manner most of the time. But I forget, you don't lean right at all do you? You just have a yearning for conspiracy theories to be true and get all umpty on behalf of the "gamons".

              Anyway have fun.

              • You’re ever so good at forensically examining previous posts from Swale and Tricky, AF. Even searching back to early January to quote me, albeit somewhat meaninglessly. Seems odd then that you ‘couldn’t find’ the post which has caused such concern and got a tad uppity when it had to be pointed out to you.

You lasted 12 hours and 14 minutes, you little trickoholic you

Onto a different subject, and personally I?m delighted to see common sense returning to at least one of the areas of life that appeared to be drifting towards madness over the past few decades, the ruling that women are defined by their birth *** not by a piece of paper. Without making a party political point, the responses to the simple question ?what is a woman?, so easily answered in a few words by 99.9% of the adult population, appeared beyond those in any position of power, so I?m glad those cowards (Starmer the highest profile but by no means the only one) have now had it clarified for them. More important those is the positive impact on women

                    Here's 4 things I believe.

                    A man is a man.
                    A woman is woman.
A trans woman is a trans woman.
A trans man is a trans man.

None of them, IMO, has the right to "enter" the space of another person when that entering makes the other feel unsafe or puts them at a disadvantage.

                    • I think it's sensible but I am a believer that people can be born in the wrong body.

I haven't read the ruling but would be of the opinion that someone who has had full gender reassignment should maybe be treated as the *** they now are, except maybe for sporting reasons.

Sport has been my big issue on this, my girls were at regional level at a number of sports as juniors but learned how to take defeat in good grace and realise when their eventual level had been reached. The infiltration of trans athletes was just starting as they became adult but it was both heartbreaking and annoying to see, now confirmed, boys destroying girls dreams

                        • Let's take the issue of toilets. In a democracy, if there's more CIS women who don't want gender reassigned women, whether they've had the full op and hormone treatment or not, in the same toilet as them than there are trans women who want to use women's toilets, then we have to start supplying trans male/female toilets OR we go down the gender neutral toilet route... and how many would be unhappy about that?

There are some gender neutral toilets at Schiphol airport and also at Fuerteventura airport. I've not seen or heard any adverse comments on those so, is that the way forward?

                          Comment

                          • Ultimately if it was simply a functional issue then gender neutral toilets with stalls only might be the rights answer. You don't have M / F toilets in your home yet still invite friends of all genders to dinner, parties etc.

But, and I think this is more a female thing, toilets go beyond mere functionality and tend to act as a social hub where gender neutrality may be less acceptable. Then we have the male only "cottages" to consider.

                            • My wife feels uncomfortable with gender neutral toilets.

                              • My other concerns with rulings like this is that it sort of legitimises (in their own heads) the hate brigade. Even the most ardent brexit supporter would admit that the moronic minority saw the vote as tacit consent to be racist, and that's a concern of mine that there will be the same with those with a dislike of anyone LGBTQ+
