Personally, I think that - as with most religious ?artefacts? - it?s all a bit bonkers and unnecessary but, like Sith, none of my business.

Think the whole security issue was put into perspective by Covid. Suddenly we were all likely to be prevented from flying, using public transport or entering a supermarket if we weren?t wearing a face covering. Yes there have been examples of terrorists disguising their appearance via the use of a burqa. Equally terrorists and criminals have ?hidden? behind balaclavas, hoodies, baseball caps and sunglasses for years. Don?t see any call for them to be banned.
But they should be. From bank robbers to toe rags on e bikes snatching phones. They wear them to escape prosecution. Ban it all.

      • And another one gets away with it. Been here 5 years from Iran. Ironically pleads guilty and gets a third off his sentence. You couldnt make it up. Should be deported , as would happen anywhere else. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news...court-22410811

Musk and Trump having a very public spat that's got more to play im sure

And to top it off Tommy Robinson and pals getting kicked out of a restaurant because staff felt uncomfortable serving them

          If Carlsberg and all that...
          And he?s back.

Ps the restaurent staff are playing a very silly game. Felt intimidated? Were they doing anything wrong? What if they had been Antifa or JK ROwling?

I fail to see how their personal feelings got them chucked out. Dodgy ground and opens up allsorts of similar situations depending on the staffs political leanings.

          • Fairly old case by the look of it. So one that will be difficult to blame in the current administration.

Also Romanian not from Iran, not that it makes any difference. I suppose the question is if he'd been deported would he have been punished back in Romania?

Indeed he is, even more bizarre.

To be honest , yes, they should have just let them finish. That said Tommy himself thought it funny and posted on X supporting Starmer being banned from Clarksons pub so he's not really got a case to complain really.

And I wonder how many complaining complained when starmer was forcibly ejected from a pub back in covid?

              • I see Donald had been making claims that he made eggs cheaper since he's been in power.

Sounds cracking that, especially when he's saying they have reduced 400% in price.

Not sure about eggs being scrambled, its becoming more evident his brains are.

Not quite the same, imo Sith.
TR has a reputation as a violent, racist, anti-Muslim activist and criminal, and that’s not opinion it’s fact.
He even ‘adopted’ his name from an infamous Luton Town football hooligan.
Not sure I’d have been comfortable serving him…much less so had I been a black, Asian or Muslim employee.

Interestingly I’m told that TripAdvisor has subsequently had to remove reviews of the place they were eating at because of the number of openly hostile ‘reviews’ since Robinson and Co. were asked to leave.

I'm far from supporting him. I was just pointing out if he's complaining about being asked to leave because of political beliefs he can't argue when he's supported bans on other political figures.

I wouldn't be that comfortable in their company either but while I find it quite amusing I think kicking them out just gives them ammunition to play the victim as him and his ilk do time and again.

                    • I take your point and I know you’re not supporting him. Just think it’s different from any Clarkson/Starmer scenario as this is more to do with behaviour rather than a difference of political beliefs.

Understand your ‘ammunition’ to ‘play the victim’ point, even though I think the owner was quite brave although s/he probably wishes s/he’d played it differently now.

Definitely the former. No idea if TTR is violent.

I think another difference is, as you say the manager was quite brave to do what they did, whereas Clarkson/ Starmer is just cheap and childish.

                            • Strange how those who criticised the removal of the WFA are now falling over themselves to criticise its - partial at least - reinstatement.
Can’t do right for doing wrong it would seem.

I think it’s now all pensioners with an income of less than 35k who are to be entitled to it, though whether this is individual or dual doesn’t yet seem clear.
Either way, wouldn’t it be more logical for ALL family groups with an income of less than a certain amount to be entitled to it? I’m sure there are a great many young poorly paid people on zero hours contracts who are much more in need than SOME pensioners.
