The thing is RA, social media logarithms push content that aligns with what you ahve posted etc. So if AF is getting "95%" of comments agreeing with the dim and rather offensive Ms Pochin, that's a reflection on him, rather than what's being said on social media.Originally posted by ramAnag View PostNo need to apologise, AF, although I don’t think I ever went off topic. Just tried to add a perspective…that the underrepresentation of black and Asian where certain activities are concerned is rather more important than how ‘mad’ a Reform MP feels about adverts.
As regards your ‘95% of thousands of comments support her sentiment’. I guess that depends where you look.

Jeez, you are very childish at times!Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostNo we won?t or at least I won?t, I?m not desperate for the last word and any there?s no point in arguing with someone who?s response to every question is, in summary, ?because Swale says so?
Perhaps you'd like to correct this? because any sentient person reading RA's responses to you, will quite easily note that it is not true that his response to every question is to quote your lies "Because Swale says so".
As Mod you will be aware that disagreements are fine, but to post something that is clearly and can be proven not to be true is unacceptable?
On second thoughts, as most of what you post is based on what you've read on social media and are deluded into thinking that reflects what the majority of people in society are thinking, then posting deluded inaccuracies is par for the course for you.
It obviously hasn't occurred to you, that there is a considerable proportion of society that chooses not to post their views on social media or indeed chooses not to be on social media. Its obvious that the majority of what's posted on there is ill informed nonsense posted by people who may well have a view, but not one thats based on any reality.

Big yawn Swale, I never post anything and ignore push content, and look at a balanced portfolio of news sources and commentators (Billy Bragg, a very liberal commentator earlier today for instance) and the responses to them. Its noticeable recently, more than ever, that the liberal media and 'elite' seem to have one view and 'the people' another, maybe accounting for your bitterness. You should try looking at issues in the round some time instead of re-reading your own bile and dragging rA into your little gigglesOriginally posted by swaledale View PostThe thing is RA, social media logarithms push content that aligns with what you ahve posted etc. So if AF is getting "95%" of comments agreeing with the dim and rather offensive Ms Pochin, that's a reflection on him, rather than what's being said on social media.
Edit: please feel free to have the last word

it's ok. I guess i questioned as I know a lot of people frown upon landlords.Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostSorry, I wasn?t intimating anything, just being polite (or trying!)
I personally think we are good landlords For me it's never been about short term gain. We have always maintained the property and the rent the current tenants pay is significantly lower than the going rate.
I'm ok with that, they have been in for around 6 years and are good tenants.
We do make a bit out the rent, had a few breaks out of it but it's about having a property we can sell in a few years to fund our retirement.
We actually looked last week and our tenants if they moved would have to likely pay around 300 a month more for something similar in the same area

POI?…Swale drags me into absolutely nothing.Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostBig yawn Swale, I never post anything and ignore push content, and look at a balanced portfolio of news sources and commentators (Billy Bragg, a very liberal commentator earlier today for instance) and the responses to them. It is actually you and GP who constantly seek to make a more than laboured point about us backing each other up. I find it tiresome and tedious in the extreme and I actually agree with Swale (yes again) in his most recent comments, but it is a waste of time saying so because it just feeds you and Tweedledumber with more childish rear gunner (etc) ammunition and encourages your overused new trick of closing down comment by suggesting others would like to ‘have the last word’.
So, yes I largely agree with Swale about politics…so what? Yes, I agree with Swale about many of your sillier thinly disguised right wing observations, but, tbh, I’m past caring about what you and GP think about either of us…so, that last word is all yours. Try using it pleasantly for once.Last edited by ramAnag; 01-11-2025, 08:26 PM.

We?re on a slightly larger scale and can sort of take a bad tenant choice in our stride, there?s more risk with a single ownership as I?m sure you?re aware and a good tenant even at a discount can be a Godsend. Ours are a bit below market rate too but beware with the new rules coming in there?s a limit to how much you can increase rent per annum, a distant family member has got caught out on this (in Scotland where such rules already apply)Originally posted by SithHappens View PostNot for me. I'm 55 next year and want to retire no later than 60.

The Scotland rules on rent increases no longer exist.Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostWe?re on a slightly larger scale and can sort of take a bad tenant choice in our stride, there?s more risk with a single ownership as I?m sure you?re aware and a good tenant even at a discount can be a Godsend. There is no limit but it has to be reasonable and in line with market rates for your area.
We've never put rent up much anyway. But one reason I'm hoping to sell at some point on the not to distant future is I won't want the hassle.
It's not been for a while but we've had a couple of sets of tenants who were a challenge. I do pay for it to be fully managed though so I'm not the one getting phone calls if there's an issue etc.
