rA, Farridge is, indeed, a good communicator. So was Hitler. Trump's word salad is designed to have a certain effect and it appears to work. BoJo had a similar appeal.
Conversely, most of the recent crop of Labour and Tory politicians of the past 2 decades. except BoJo, are somewhat less than captivating orators.

Where both Farage and Hitler are concerned I think one has to recognise their strengths. One can despise their messages and aims but danger lies if we just dismiss them as fools. They are/were both clever and, imo, unscrupulous politicians who communicate well and effectively, if dishonestly.Originally posted by MadAmster View PostrA, Farridge is, indeed, a good communicator. Johnson I disagree with you on. I don’t get it. He seems to have somehow turned scruffiness, an apparent inability to dress himself and a bumbling, stuttering style of speaking into an art form. Listening to him at the Covid enquiry last week was embarrassing. He makes the current PM look like a statesman in comparison, but somehow some seem to retain a fondness for someone who, imo, is nothing more than a lying buffoon.Last edited by ramAnag; 06-11-2025, 09:14 AM.

So you DO notice ethnicity.Originally posted by SithHappens View PostTalking of Christmas Ads, seen the John Lewis one...Surprised Sarah Pochin not taking credit for the lack of black or Asian actors.
The thing about the ethnicity in ads thing, having listened to lots and lots of discussion on the subject (and yes on mainstream media not socials) is that arts and media folk aren?t really interested in what the plebs think, they?ll do what they want

I don't say this often: spot on.
Dangers lie in dismissal

Never said I didn't notice. I said it didn't bother me. But probably did occur to me more yes considering recent outbursts.Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostSo you DO notice ethnicity.

'reserved for spring and the return of warmth and sunshine'........ When's that then?? 🤔Originally posted by ramAnag View PostI love Christmas too, but it’s a bit ‘less is more’ for me. Christmas Eve, Christmas morning, Christmas Dinner, Turkey sandwiches, seasonal football and a pantomime with the grandkids are amongst my favourite things. ‘It’s the most wonderful time of the year’ is reserved for spring and the return of warmth and sunshine though for me.
