Not sure on the definitive answer to your question, Andy, however, in one of the first interviews he did after buying the club, he said he would be looking for "inward investment", either partial or whole. Plus, his "wealth" includes Clowes Development Ltd which isn't just his. Morris is said to have walked due to his family not wanting more of their inheritance being "spaffed up the wall". Might there come a day when David Clowes gets "shut down" by the family?

IMO Mr. Clowes is a much wiser and less narcissistic character than Morris was. He didn’t promise the world but he has delivered a great deal.
Throughout virtually all of 2025 however things do seem to have changed. Starting with the acquisition of the two Scandinavians and John Eustace himself we do seem to have been becoming evermore ambitious.
We are now linked with - realistically I believe - players of higher quality and greater potential than had previously been the case. Given Mr. Clowes understandable caution it all suggests to me that there may be something in the offing, but I have no idea what.

He has employed Jonathan price to bring an investor or investors on board. He has expressed the view that he would be happy to part with a majority share of the club to a "suitable" investor, but wants to remain chair.

He is financing the club to according to the last accounts £14 million a year, but recognises he doesn't have the funds to develop it beyond a sustainable championship club.

My understanding is that there has been income from players sales and sell on fees, plus the budget allocated for wages and transfers. Eustace was given assurances on joining that if the club remained in the championship, there would be a budget sufficient to improve the squad and make it competitive in the championship. Further development would depend upon attracting an investor at some stage.

I'd be interested to know what truth in the inheritance thing. Amazing how many seem to think inheritance is a tight, how about stand on your own feet.

I keep telling my parents to spend every penny, I have zero interest in inheriting money from them.

You’re either a very naive or a very generous spirited man, Sith…possibly both, but believe me, you’ll be grateful if and when it happens.

Also…going off topic, as a 71 year old in, I think, good health, it’s one of the reasons I support the concept of assisted dying. When the time comes, as I’m sure it will within the next ten years or so, I’d far rather go believing that I’ve left something for my children and grandchildren than that all my/our money has been spent on ‘caring’ for old rA who has lost his dignity, independence and no longer recognises his loved ones. Honestly, what’s the point of that?

Don’t forget, your parents may take a great deal of comfort from leaving you something and in any case, I suspect the Clowes inheritance is up to them…and the taxman of course.

Spend as much as you can so the taxman gets nowt. I'm worth north of half a million but that's mainly bricks and mortar surrounding my living space. 30 grand in records. Sell the 45s at some point and buy a 1954 MG TD. That way I can enjoy the car while I'm alive and the family can realise its value easier than they can selling my record collection. The house? Sell that and we'd still have to live somewhere. Buying a 2 bed apartment in the area would cost >100K more than our 4 bed house and garden front and back. Renting would be 1300 to 1400 a month at best.

Er indoors has 7 years to go to her pension. That will probably lead to us selling the house, preferably to one of our lads, no money up front just paying the debt off monthly, buying a 2 bed in Corralejo, Fuerteventura and thoroughly enjoying our latter years there with the odd visit to NL and UK. Whatever's left, the lads can share. The current house? Value it when we go, whichever of them is in the house takes the amount already paid off the then value and what's left is halved. Brother get that amount, probably at the going rent for the property a month...

The way things are going my children will have had most of their inheritance before I die, just the house left but as I told them, I'd far rather they had the benefit when they are just starting out in life, than a lump sum later on when theoretically they will be financially comfortably off.

Be careful what you wish for RA, some posters on here, no names no pack drill seem so upset at having an alternative point of view presented, they may want rid of you and I!!

I keep telling them spend. I honestly don't have interest in getting anything. I'd rather them enjoy it all.

If they want to treat me do it now so they can enjoy it too. I'll get far more enjoyment from a pint off my dad and sharing the time with him than any amount he could leave.

They do seem set on leaving some and not much i can do about that. They know I'd rather them do things with it while they can.

If I get something so be it, but I'd rather know they haven't gone without to do so.

I kept saying the same to my Mum who made it to 93 but died last month. She never quite succeeded in spending it all but it reminded me that these things are dynastic - she left what my grandparents left her: but it's not inflation proofed. So I agree, spend it before inflation or the government (whosoever they may be) just leave you enough inheritance to buy that final pint, Sith.

Yep, 41 (much too) hot!
In Lot et Garonne just south of Bergerac on the edge of the Dordogne. I love the sun but this is too much. People are either in their cars with the A/C on full blast, seeking shelter undercover or emptying the supermarket shelves of water.
Hailstones as big as conkers last Wednesday and unremitting heat since. A case of be careful what you wish for.
