  • No issue with him. Just birmingham fans rejoicing in us nearly going out of business.

    • Dolan goes to Spain, more precisely Espanyol ☹️

Yes shame that, but at least CBT is looking lively pre season!

        • Interesting comments from Eustace in DET re Roofe, suggesting he might be considering a short term deal as cover for the injured strikers, who may not be fit for the first few weeks of the season, but I then note the guy is injured again.

          • Agbawodikeizu as our starting CF? Cracking 45 from him yesterday and when he hit the bar, he had one of their defenders hanging onto his shirt for dear life. According to the Laws of the game, that's an offence requiring the giving of a direct free kick and, as it was inside the box, it was a penalty that, as so often happens, both pre season and in competitive games, wasn't given.

            CBT scored again.

            • Ozoh seemingly on the way back to us. Fine player. Hopefully more robust and glass technology has moved on.

Was just about to post that. A fit Ozoh would be a cracking signing. Can he stay fit? If this does happen, hopefully we have some kind of fitness clause in the deal.

A midfield of Ozoh, Kenzo and Ebou worked well the few games they were together last season.

                • I'll be really pleased if true. If we get him and he stays fit will make a huge difference. Our activities this summer have the potential to be very exciting, their some risk with a few of them but if it pays off we could surprise a few.

                    • You mean his back is what is going to go this year to leave him on the treatment table?

No. I'm hoping he has a full season and, should he get crocked, Palace will then pay his wages not us.

                        • Rhian Brewster a right winger is the latest rumour, also we have supposed to have put a bid in for a Greek/Australian midfielder at Sunderland.

Always thought he was a striker, not a winger. A check on wiki agrees with me (no great recommendation, I know). Cost Sheff U 23.5M GBP. He's scored 8 goals in 106 appearances for them. My personal opinion is no thanks.

Is Nectarios Triantis is the Greek/Australian midfielder (though primarily a defender now) to whom you refer? He joined Sunderland from Central Coast Mariners in June 2023 and is a defensive midfielder who also has experience as a centre-back.

Triantis was originally a midfielder or winger in his early footballing career, but his height has led him to transition into a central defender, although he is still considered versatile. He is also eligible to represent both Australia and Greece internationally, with a potential tug-of-war for his allegiance emerging.

Do we need another centre half? I don't think we do despite the lad having been nominated for player of the year last season by Scottish Football Writers.
Might he be seen by JE as a DM or wingback? Seeing his Scottish POTY nomination, I think those boats have long sailed.

Brewster certainly started out as a striker, but in recent seasons he has played on the right , either as a winger/attacking midfielder or right of 3 forwards. His goal record is poor but is apparently a creative player who can make things happen.

The thing with players labelled as forwards these days, is that depending upon the formation and tactics, they can play across a front 3 or wide on the left or right hand side.

Blades fans I know say he has predominantly played wide right and whilst his stats might not appear fantastic, he has been good at driving forward and creating space for other players to take advantage of. So he hasn't played as a pure striker for a fair while.

The other guy, I know nothing about, other than he was described as a defensive midfielder not a CB.

                              • Brewster signed on a free.

Triantis? I got the info on him having converted to a CB from 2 different sites and Wiki
