I get that you're a big fan of Pressley but the fact is that 8th is never better than 6th and, no matter how you spin it, there's no getting round that.

I didn't want him at first and believed it was a terrible appointment. However I've mellowed a bit over the season and, in reality, he's probably done better than I expected him to; outside of the derby performances. I was one of the 'down by Christmas' mob and I'm honest enough to admit I was wrong but, again in reality, I wasn't far wrong really and we're still not clear of relegation threat three games from the end of the season. I do however have a decent amount of confidence we'll avoid that and am hopeful of an 8th place finish but believe we'll be 9th or 10th.

Next season will be very telling for Pressley, he needs to improve performances on the park and, ideally, league placing even if that's just certain to be clear of relegation threat early enough for us all to have a relaxed run in to the season end. He has nowhere to hide next season, it'll be his squad from day one and there will be no shambolic start like there was this season. Mind you, with Nelms in charge there's no real guarantee of that.
I'm not a big fan....I'm a fan of DFC and I think Elvis has done a very decent job in dreadful circumstances.

First game back was when the banner came oot......I saw a lot of organisation and fight that day and hoped things would turn.....they did

We are all fans of DCF and our opinions differ,it's a forum it happens.
Most Dundee fans I talk to acknowledge the team has improved through the season and hopefully we kick on.
I doubt he left a good job down south to finish 7th or 8th with Dundee FC each season.
Our owners are unpredictable so we can only wonder who will be in charge next season.
Top 6 doc been best for a while tho.

7 th or 8th over a sustained period would be pretty much unprecedented for DFC this century.

Jocky last season and Italians 2 seasons ( spans 2 centuries )we had 3 seasons 8th and above.....before that we had a spell in early to late 80s where we had around 7 or 8 years on the spin 8th or above.

Whilst the idiots in our fan base didn't want him??just because?.

None of them had a valid reason for not wanting him.

In the fans defence a lot of fans thought Doherty deserved another season myself included.

Possibly but that’s no reason for not wanting someone…just because.

A popular (with most fans) manager had just been sacked after two relatively decent seasons. Fans were expecting that something significant had been lined up otherwise why would Docherty have been sacked on the last day of the season? Fans waited and waited with rumours flying around of experienced and successful managers possibly coming in. Then Pressley was appointed, a failure at Falkirk then sacked by Coventry City and Carlisle United; hardly inspiring. Then the holiday shambles came to light (not his fault of course) followed by the massively misquoted interview and the terrible League Cup campaign.

Fans had every right to be at least annoyed by his appointment but most settled and gave him a chance, one or two still want him out whilst, I'd say, the vast majority feel he's just about worth another season. A few think more of him than that. Maybe more of the vitriol aimed at him at that time should have been aimed at the person or people that hired him? Because they made a right Jim Delahunt of the whole thing IMO, maybe not the choice but definitely the handling of it.

Show me a young manager who hasn’t been sacked.

He worked at and was highly thought of at a progressive club playing in arguably one of the best leagues in the world. Helping and nurturing young talent to develop into decent professionals.

Nah, let’s hate him before he starts.

One of the things that’s held our club back is the attitude of our alleged supporters.

Does that make him a good manager? Or does it make him a good mentor?

It was an appointment that, to many at the time, seemed to lack vision and seemed to verge almost on desperation. It certainly didn't come across as progressive or ambitious. Is it really any surprise that after years of relative failure some were concerned at the appointment of a manager who had failed in multiple managerial positions and who then made the much misquoted 'if you want a successful manager' statement?

You might not know this but us Dundee fans have been through the wringer most of our lives and have every right to be sceptical of anything that happens at the club.

                        Last paragraph.

There was apparently fans having strokes cause he dared to bring on Samuels last week.

                        Dee fans. 🙄

                              You've nailed it

Picks the team and tactics from what's put in front of him.

He dosent have and apparently dosent want 100% control over what's put in front of him.

And will always be first in the fans' firing line. That's possibly part of the thinking of those above him right enough.
