It always strikes me that they run the club for their plans or ambitions.....if that happens to coincide with the fans all good but if it dosent ...so be it.

This is a guy who employs a stadium manager who generally dislikes our support and has at best badly concealed contempt for those that don't sit in the posh seats.

I kinda get the feeling if the stadium comes off the club and in particular the fans will be looked upon as tennants and be treated as tennants.

I also get frustrated that many outside commentators and fans who don't go or rarely go continually harp on aboot it being a game changer......game changer for what I'm not sure......they never seem to specify.

To build a club you have to build a connection, you have to make supporters feel part of the club, wanted, welcome, the reason for their being a club..........some of the best at doing that over the years......( And they all had faults ), Marr, leishman, fleeting, fitz****face, Mercer, Ferguson, Lambie, the Deefiant group..and plenty others.....Nelms no so much.

I still go every fortnight and half a dozen away games a season but it's like I'm looking on rather than in amongst it these days.
I fail to understand why the management of Dundee Football Club have scrapped PATG. It gives me the impression that John Nelms is only interested in season ticket holders because they hand over their money before the start of every season and he has no interest in making it as easy as possible for non season ticket holders to attend home games at Dens Park.
The home stands are less than half full. At the Aberdeen home game on Saturday 28th September 2024 which was the first home game we had played for 4 weeks there were almost as many Aberdeen supporters in Dens Park as Dundee supporters.
John Nelms sitting the front row of the Directors Box should notice the decreasing number of people sitting in the Bobby Cox Stand at home games and as managing director of Dundee Football Club he should be asking all the supporters why this is happening.
Hospitality in my opinion is too expensive for the average supporter.
Nelms should be thinking up ways of increasing the number of people sitting in the home stands at Dens Park.
He should reinstate PATG in the Main Stand and Bobby Cox Stand with immediate effect.

I'm not John Nelms' biggest fan but you're way off with some of your thoughts. Most people will have the app or pay in advance online and receive electronic tickets by email making it very easy to attend home games. Whether you like it or not that's the way things are going not only at Dens Park but at most sports and entertainment venues. The option to pay on the day is still there, people just need to plan a bit better and go to the ticket office for one, but most will buy in advance now. Society has changed and people aren't leaving things to the last minute any more when it's so easy to do things like get tickets for a match a week in advance without having to get out of their chairs.

PATG is gone, accept it and move on.

One thing that bugs me is the continued insistence by the club on sending out Christmas draw ticket to all season ticket holders (possibly to others too) by mail. I think it's ?1.55 now for a second class letter up to 100g so if they send out 3,500 of these it's stinging them for nearly ?5,500. I personally don't even open mine, I know the size and shape of the letter and when it comes I put it straight into the bin with the other junk mail. I wonder how many actually get bought? Regardless though, they're ?5,500 down before they start - just plain bonkers.

Agree about the raffle tickets , I always feel guilty about never selling any as like you they go in the bin , they must still sell enough to cover costs though or surely they wouldn’t do it , I can’t see why they feel the need to send them , then why not hand them out to fans as you go into the ground on match days mid November , then fans who want to sell them can do so

          I disagree regarding PATG.
Attendances are falling season on season at Dens Park as more and more decide to stop going to football matches.
Numerous people have posted on various forums that they are non season ticket holders and want the PATG option reinstated.
I raised the matter at a Dee4life board of directors meeting at the beginning of November 2022.
The Dee4life secretary who was a season ticket holder admitted at the next board of directors meeting in December 2022 that he did not understand why I wanted pay at the gate turnstiles reinstated in the Main Stand and Bobby Cox Stand until he arrived at the ticket office before the start of the Dundee v Airdrie Scottish Cup tie played on the last Saturday in November 2022.
The Dee4life secretary had to stand in a long queue to purchase his ticket for the game because season tickets are not valid for cup ties and he nearly missed the start of the game.
If pay at the gate turnstiles had been in operation he would have had no trouble gaining admission to Dens Park.
I have no problems going to the ticket office during the week before a game to purchase my ticket but not everyone has that luxury.
Closing the ticket office on a Saturday morning when there is no home game makes it more inconvenient for Dundee supporters who are non season ticket holders and work from Monday to Friday to purchase a ticket for a Dundee FC home game.
It will encourage them to purchase a fire stick allowing them to watch home games in comfort of their own home with a subsequent loss of income to Dundee Football Club.

I agree PATG is gone. Club needs to put more effort into trying to get lapsed fans to come along for each game. There must be 1/2 ST sales that might be attractive just now, and later on 2 or 3 match deals that could be put together.

We used to have a publican who posted regularly on here a while ago, Derry Drummer, I think was his user name.

Maybe the local pubs could do with some help in selling pre match and post match pints to fans? If you have a ticket for the , and it should be easy to demonstrate that with the digital tickets, get something as a reward.

Our club has to be seen to be trying harder to get fans to attend.

Performances on the pitch are crucial but I think more fans might help the team to perform at a higher level.

The PATG argument should now be a thing of the past. There was definitely a point over the past few seasons when our ticketing system was so poor and therefore several hundred or more could be in a queue at the shop wanting to buy tickets, queuing for ages, and at times missing the start of the game. This season it is all different. Folk can buy their ticket easily, days in advance, on the day, in the pub pre match or outside the ground just prior to entry. The queues at the shop are now a thing of the past and anyone without access to buy online or on their phone can walk straight into the shop and get served right away. Also it's not as if other Premier clubs offer PATG. I can be as old fashioned as the next one of my age but in this case we move with the times. I don't see an issue here other than something to moan about re the club.

I reckon if JN abandoned Camperdown, agreed to stay at Dens, reintroduced PATG, became the best communicator in Scottish football you, Islay, would find something else to beat him over the head with. Lighten up man!

I think it is possible that the stadium might not be built. Being able to pay for it seems to me to be a concern.

But despite this being a relatively successful period on the park there is somewhere between real angst and apathy among the supporters that go and the ones that don't will pretty much never be back.

You wouldnae move house with your Mrs if you were loggerheads.

I really wanted the yanks, most respected, d4l and the DSA to try and connect with those that go and those that have lapsed before any move....it hasn't happened and it won't now........the real disappointing aspect of yanks involvement at dens, the DSA sycophants and D4l who couldn't hold a marshmallow to the fire never mind nelms feet.

There was not any chance that Dee4life would go aggressive, imo. Don't think they had a proposal that could be an alternative to the new stadium.

I remember arguing that development of Dens would only work if new income streams could be generated. Never got anywhere, so it seems to me Dee4life are playing the long game and hopefully they will stick around. Would like to see them creating a rainy day fund raising option for supporters.

Understand that. Think they need more members. Not sure if being anti Nelms is in any way helpful to our club.

Being anti Nelms and wanting answers and more open communication is two completely different things in my book.

There are some Dundee fans (not you) who seem to think Nelms shouldn't be held to account or have a question and answer.....his attitude towards fans is poor.....unless he thinks he can get something out of them.

The fans seem to be a pain to him.
