There is one major difference between the Eden Project on Dock Street and the new stadium on the A90 Kingsway.Originally posted by BCram View PostIt does seem as though there is something fundamental that has not yet been resolved. Imagine if there was no carparking in the project. Would that be a help? I think the Eden Project is being designed along these principles, and yet there a green corridor approach being pushed for Dock Streer, one of the material routes for buses and cars. It seems odd that there are no clear drawings that show what the club has to do to get planning permission that is acceptable to TS.
The A90 Kingsway is a trunk road which comes under the control of Transport Scotland.
Meanwhile Dock Street is not a trunk road and it comes under the control of Dundee City Council.
This is why the Dundee City Councillors gave planning permission for the Eden Project just as the useless and incompetent Dundee City Councillors gave M & S planning permission to move to the Gallagher Retail Park despite the traffic congestion on Dock Street.
If Tim Keyes had purchased the site of the old gas works on Dock Street for his new football stadium it would have received planning permission ages ago as the Dundee City Councillors are not interested in traffic congestion on Dock Street.

I've driven along Dock Street many, many times and have never encountered significant traffic congestion.Originally posted by islaydarkblue View PostThere is one major difference between the Eden Project on Dock Street and the new stadium on the A90 Kingsway.

I think that's because Dock Street is actually 4 lane road. Think the plans for Eden Project will change that, template being the Arbroath disaster.Originally posted by Deeranged View PostI've driven along Dock Street many, many times and have never encountered significant traffic congestion.

Recently I have driven on several occasions on Dock Street to take my wife to M & S in the Gallagher Retail Park and it was gridlock leading up to the traffic lights at the entrance to the Gallagher Retail Park thanks to the dozy and incompetent Dundee City Councillors.Originally posted by Deeranged View PostI've driven along Dock Street many, many times and have never encountered significant traffic congestion.

I've driven in major cities all over Europe - Milan, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Athens etc. Take it from me there is no major congestion, and definitely no gridlock, on Dock Street.Originally posted by islaydarkblue View PostRecently I have driven on several occasions on Dock Street to take my wife to M & S in the Gallagher Retail Park and it was gridlock leading up to the traffic lights at the entrance to the Gallagher Retail Park thanks to the dozy and incompetent Dundee City Councillors.

I must admit, major disruption does occasionaly occur on Dock St when "incidents" on the road bridge happen.Originally posted by Deeranged View PostI've driven in major cities all over Europe - Milan, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Athens etc. Take it from me there is no major congestion, and definitely no gridlock, on Dock Street.

Never been there but it's on my bucket list. I won't be driving though.Originally posted by Returnofrros View PostYou wanna try naples
One of the worst I've ever experienced was Antwerp (admittedy in the 80s) which was just a free for all. Milan was bad, especially when someone broke down in the middle of five lanes, opened their doors, walked away and didn't bother even closing the doors.Last edited by Deeranged; 11-11-2025, 01:42 PM.

Yes that's true. But in the wider scheme of things it really isn't usually that bad. When it takes over an hour to travel 10 miles every day regardless of (cough) 'incidents' that's when you can say there's congestion.Originally posted by davydook View PostI must admit, major disruption does occasionaly occur on Dock St when "incidents" on the road bridge happen.
