Also too many slow starts in games. we saw early in the season when the team was playing with a greater freedom we were exciting to watch. JG really needs to stop obsessing over how he thinks the opposition will play and how they are set up as it it really stifling any creativity in the team. if this repeated pattern continues I wouldn't care if he goes at end of the season.

We were comfortable, Richards cost us

Thelin had atleast twice the budget as JG and has taken less points than him over a season and a half

    That's Kucherenko away, confirmed

What a pity we couldn't take such decisive action when we had the Aussie in goal…

So Amorim and Nancy gone also, both stubbornly refused play anything other than 3-4-3. Was Thelin of the same ilk? Bottom line JG 3-4-3 is not the solution for every game and you need to change if required, and the requirement has been there for quite a few games this season. Not calling for JGs head but there is a pattern here, i think Einstein called it madness!

Indeed, we would never have gone down when a decent keeper, unfortunately that January window was before JG took over

Id say about JG , he can be loyal to a player, maybe too loyal at times but he can also be ruthless as we saw in the summer

I would think Esselink will have to bide his time to get another chance now for example, rightly

Hopefully a steady keeper coming in though, makes a big difference

As we know with Benji and Walton being examples

No just don't agree on approach at Pittodrie. We scored a breakaway goal in first half, otherwise remained camped in defence allowing them to come at us. After they equalised which was pretty inevitable given how much territory we surrendered and it only needed one lapse to do so, we then started to play a bit and guess what Aberdeen were no threat after that. Completely unacceptable to play so negatively against a struggling team and we stand as the only team Thelin not to lose to in his last 5 games. A team who this season lost at home to Falkirk Motherwell, Hibs and drew with Livingston and St Mirren hardly world beaters deserving of a back to the wall defensive effort to try and sneak a result. They were very much there for the taking.

I don't dislike JG but his negativity and too cautious approach is costing us points and stifling creativity. And these terrible slow starts to games which I think is a symptom of his cautious approach.

Particularly when we can't defend worth a phuck.

4 4 2 please ... it might be that simple.

With Kuch leaving early in the window, I was fully expecting an announcement on a new keeper rapido i.e. like by today. We cannot afford to pus5y about here. What if Dave gets injured on Saturday for instance (or even worse in training tomorrow - wouldn’t exactly be the first injury picked up in training this season). That’s us then down to Adams and er, who else exactly?

Mitov was supposedly a good keeper but the coaching from Hinchcliffe has made him worse. What exactly do goalie coaches do to make players worse? Under Alexander Siegrist was good. Banks was a good coach as Pernis was a good keeper. Likewise I think three of the four Polish keepers we've had have been good with The Monk imo the pick of them. Sieb and Guido were good keepers. Try another Ukraine keeper, one who can catch the ball until the end of the season, Maksym Koval.

I agree that we were better once they equalised and we went at them but it's hindsight to think that would have been the case from the off with the players they have in attack to be too open, they were not struggling at the time so that's wrong right away, they were in the top 2 over the last ten games form table when we went there and had just beaten Hearts at home

We went there and were very comfortable and but for a poor spill from Richards (not sure the first time) would likely have got the win, hence we need a steady keeper

If we attacked from the off then we'd likely not have been in that position, we went there without some key players, Graham and Luca, we had Bert at the back etc

The 3-4-3 system has worked ok away to the bigger sides, it's not the system, it's needing or best players on the park consistently

Oh well, so it begins. That’s Jak Alnwick signed for Huddersfield Town. We’re only a week in and it’s already starting to feel like it’s going to be another belter of a January window……………
