BBC (OF) Sport Scotland will always be OF bias; Robertson apart from youth football has a little connection with the green side as a youth, that’s it. It was QP and United that gave him his chance. Immediately down the rankings with the OF punditry, but they have been more than proved wrong with his years at Liverpool.
Every OF young player is the next big thing or wonder kid and give Gan D his due he was the brightest spark, but any better than GMS in his heyday; who barely got a sniff at united!
I think Dykes and Adams are utter tosh, Bowie, a fit Nesbitt and a firing Shankland are much better players.
Overall there is no one outstanding player in the midfield although the punditry would have you believe that Gilmour et al are world beaters. Yes I agree they do very well with their clubs but they fit a dynamic that probably makes them look much better than they are and haven’t we had this before with great ‘world class’ club players but no replication on the international stage.
Credit Clark to where he has got us, but his seemingly negative tactics will mostly backfire in the end, I think Belarus did what we do against higher ranked sides, sit in and hit on the break or avoid a pumping!
The real issue is failure to develop real home grown talent, whereas smaller countries are forging ahead. SFA need to get their act together. The OF do not always get the best talent at youth football but by association with these clubs, their youths are perceived as being better.
Anyway October is soon upon us and the tools at the national team disposal need to produce!
