Congrats to England. Finally won a major tournament outside of England. The match was actually reasonable for 1 hour before degenerating.

Wow. So some of you will only watch sport played at the highest level? based on that you can?t think much of the Paralympics or Championship and below football pyramid?. Hopefully it inspires particularly young girls to play sport (at any level) rather than spend too much time on Social media listening and watching opiniated crap??..

        Fair points WS.

Many women football fans actually have no interest in the mens game so its a brand new market of interest thats expanding.

Reality is most men who watch & enjoy womens football got into watching the womens game through their daughters & the many young girls who actually play football is due to their fathers love of football compared to their mothers, for sure.

Never played in an all girls team as I only played in boys teams as was the norm in the 90s until 11 years of age but I guess if I was a kid today I would have played into my secondary schooling years & followed games live & on Tv too.

For sure, womens football is packaged as inclusive & so is a massive pull for members of the LGBTQI communities who defo dont always feel welcome at mens football.

Yes, womens football is still carving out its own space & working out what it wants to be but men in various ways will have a crucial role to play & have a say in its development.
Just great to see young girls today actually interested in a physical sport activity as most dont participate in any sadly.

Good luck to the sport but its not a 'pull' for me personally as a spectator but if I ever have a daughter then that perspective may change ☺

        Just saying

Fantastic achievement and very contrasting styles in the final.

I have nothing against women playing football in the same way I have nothing against a fat person taking up jogging. Good for them! But I don?t want to watch.

I Heard Weighman saying she was fed up with people constantly comparing women and mens football, she pointed out that this doesnt happen at the womens events at the Olympics, Wimbledon, Ladies Rugby, Ladies Cricket etc etc. She has a point, as i've said previously watching my lad growing up playing for Farsley Celtic juniors, his team wasn't being compared to the mans proffesional game - they where compared to Pudsey juniors, to me its the same thing.
I think I simply enjoty it for what it is, and even better to hear outr players actually saying how proud they are to be English, and to talk about never say die - due to haveing English blood running through their veins...made me proud of them anyway.

Good point and well made T.

I?m not sure the game helps itself by having so many ex women?s footballers commenting on the men?s game and often making comparisons.
