It was tossed about at the time stomps, I remember this with Don.Originally posted by whitestomper45 View PostAgree with the Rev and all about too much loyalty, but it?s not a bad trait in someone. Hopefully he has learnt. Also we are likely to be near the other end of the league mostly, so loyalty will have to be shorter term . (Can just see some on here creaming their pants for next years struggles)
I remember The Don being accused of loyalty too, allowing the great team to all grow old together when it needed freshening up? MOR
The daily mailchester up to there usual schitt stirring about DF sacking
I for one hope ?he? decides to stay with us and not get poached!! Always compared to Norwich which he was never really backed financially?this will play a huge part for our next season. Imo only, I really want him to stay and a chance at the prem, for all the small faults! he has been accused. I think he has done really well, always remembering back at the start of the season where we lost ?key? players and most on here and elsewhere giving us a small chance of play off?s at best!
For the longest time this season I always thought we would get promotion. MOT.

I see Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe was given the VIP red carpet treatment by Ibrox chief executive Patrick Stewart & chairman Fraser Thornton in Glasgow this lunchtime.
He was joined by our ex-Elland Road technical director Gretar Steinsson & 49ers Enterprises director Raminder Dhadwal in being officially shown around the Ibrox stadium.
The US based businessman Andrew Cavenagh was there too. All were also presenr at ER on Monday watching us destroy Bristol & stayed till the end of all the emotional celebrations - so food for thought for them regarding DF.
Todays development comes with the 49ers group now very close to rubber-stamping their deal to buy out Rangets current club shareholders.
Wonder if they have had time to discuss our financing yet ?

Was on a Greek island (Kavos) the week in the summer Mo Johnston signed for Rangers - it was absolute carnage with mass brawls every night between the Celtic and Rangers fans.

1.DF is a club man for sure & obviously gets the Leeds fan 'thing' connection bang on.
2. He also worked under certain restrictions into engineering a brand of football with what was available skill-set wise within his remit, too.
In the distant past the culture of a team was very much that which was created by & grown by the Manager, as the team really represented the Managers character & unique traits, imo.
I think nowadays its more than that as players own the culture of the team, the board owns it, the whole management owns it, the staff own it, the fans own it, the media own it, too.
So everyone has a piece of the ownership of the culture of a club today & so can voice an opinion at the touch of a media button 24/7.
Not easy to guess what the 49ers will do with DF as its 'his skills that will pay the clubs bills' ultimately or not by results on the pitch.
Time & time again we see professional clubs fail to perform & like Leeds in the past undertake a review, come up with a genius solution like sack the head coach & hire a new one & back to square one. 😞
In that environment, hiring one man & expecting him to completely & permanently change the culture of the organisation is ridiculous but DF has come very close to doing that for me, all be it differently to Bielsa, but both did it with reserved dignity.
When clubs hire an overseas coach & expect them to completely & permanently change the total culture of the club & in doing so then achieve competition success as well, then thats a 'big ask' as the job of a new Head coach is also to provide high level technical skills, tactical abilities & strategic knowledge & implement those into a mixed-team skill set & team ethos & when everyone in the club & team wants it, remain committed to it & when all individuals make that personal decision to embrace it then you will get a team that plays like, acts like, thinks like & performs like the culture that created it will go far. 👍
But with egos in a squad then certainly gonna be different ball game, for sure.
But how far are we going is the question now & what will be given to help our journey by our owners is yet again the question. 🤔
Any team surrounded now by the great culture of ER & Leeds Uniteds past with positive people, innovative thinkers, people committed to excellence & high performance success is gonna be consistently competitive in weekly competition for sure with that mindset value.
Sustainable change grows from inside to out, many will say.
Said all along that DF would get us to PL cos of his positivity mainly & the guy was driven by past experience too - a winner for sure !
Now he has to prove it on the bigger stage which is one hell of a gig with some of our demanding fans who may not be endeared by the way we may have to engineer a result via what our Boardroom 'provides' over summer.

For all that MT it will ultimately come down to
1 do the board trust him to deliver results in the PL
2 if so can he hit the ground running
For all that he has done an amazing job the fact that the questions are being asked suggest that there are certain weaknesses.
There is a system and pattern he plays to and it seems pretty inflexible. Fine if you have the best squad which we pretty much do in the EFL but altogether different where you have a weaker squad.
The PL will be hard and we are likely to need flexibility which I am not sure he has.
His squad rotation (or lack thereof) and late subs might also be an issue in the PL. Tanaka and Rothwell only got a proper look in due injuries and as a result looked less than in shape for the first couple of games - the way he manages game time means those outside the first 11 get little opportunity to either gain match sharpness or to develop. If you are in the favoured 11 then great as you?ll get lots of game time but you won?t get a rest.
His in game reading of matches at time seems odd. It may be that he believes in the original plans and wants to allow time for reversion to the mean. That said, there have been games this season where it?s obvious things aren?t working and he leaves it till 65/70 minutes to change things.
He also seems stubborn almost to a fault. We?ve all commented on Meslier and Farke?s refusal to see what was in front of him cost us points. It even led to the well publicised spat with the Chairman and it seems he was told to change to Darlow. That refusal to read the runes or listen to other voices is okay if you are winning but ?..
I really don?t like how he publicly criticises young players and often falls out with them - he doesn?t seem to do it with older squad members - that for me is his biggest fault.
On the positive side of the ledger, he had two good seasons for us and was a little unlucky last year. This season has been stellar and when.the football clicks it is a joy to watch.
It may also be that Leeds is the club where it is all finally coming together for him and he can kick on.
He has earned his chance and I hope he smashes it next year but bizarrely for someone who has such a good winning ratio there are still questions.
I hope the club is able to sit down with him and help him work through the perceived weaknesses as if he can address those he could move up the ladder to the next echelon of coaches.

Both MT and Hopey make great points and there?s nothing I would disagree with. For me, I would just say he has earned the right to have a go in the Prem. If he hasn?t in the Boards eyes then what should he have achieved ?
The Board should back him fully in the transfer market - in excess of ?100m and see how he does. He knows the club and we don?t have to do another reset. That in itself takes time and loses us points whilst a new manager adjusts. We do have a core of players that will form the Premier squad going forward. Make the right acquisitions in the summer and everything is good to go.
If he?s failed by November and he?s been backed, then sure, consider a change.

Good shout - the last game Firpo was immense - the ball for Largi was incredible and he was good defensively too. Bogle has just grown all season and against last game was really good defensively as well as being great going forward.Originally posted by whitestomper45 View PostId also add that under his watch, be it him or his team, players have improved. In particular Bogle, who seems to improve every week and the once hopeless Firpo who also puts in great performances.
But lack of rotation is a concern
he got tunes out of Rutter the season before that some thought impossible.
