So reassuring to see the commendable behaviour of the respectful American golf "supporters", given the very impartial attitude that exemplified that behaviour in the days approaching the competition.

Interesting to see how they respond to their team getting spanked on home turf.

Really? Show what a **** you really are.

Golf used to be a gentleman's game (yes gentleMAN), but acknowledging the revisions to the gender politics it's (hopefully) still a sort that has some sense of manner and decorum.

The current "flavour" of American "support" shows just how far and how fast the ****heads can take over.

agree........ but whats new at sporting spectacles..... even Wimbledon......as this kind of behavior while committed by a minority obviously negatively impacts the atmosphere for all..........

suggest as ever ........that alcohol consumption would be linked to fueling such unruly spectator behaviour..... suggest that event and organisers and PGA get a grip on ticket allocations and enforce a zero-tolerance policy for intoxication and aggressive behavior with consequences including removal from the event.........

perhaps with the outcome all but decided..... the thousands upon thousands of spectators who have paid 750 top dollar notes and beyond per day have come to Bethpage to drown their sorrows in the booze tents before venting their spleen.

like any such event the ticket pricing does not attract large numbers of ordinary fans with ordinary priced tickets for kids and the normal golf people fraternity ...... they are not inviting you to buy a ticket and watch a golf tournament but their selling you the promise of a spectacle and the opportunity to watch the event on massive outdoor screens now within it....... with vastly inflated food beverage and alcohol areas sporadically dotted around the course.............

its a global event problem in truth....... not just sporting events........ politics and media has seen debating becoming more hostile........ fueling unacceptable actions......... freedom of speech some may say with others suggesting its just banter....... well for kids witnessing that behaviour and players wives having to leave the course then the organisers have to take responsibilty..... do they not.

I play and watch a lot of golf and this goes back to 1991 and has drifted into what has transpired over the last few days.

There have been a few Cups in Europe where the home crowd have crossed the line too.

Ryder Cup mix of attracting a wider audience than the traditional fan base, hyping it to death and then making lots of alcohol available played in New York was always going to problematic. The Ryder Cup has turned into something much bigger than golf and is geared to generating money for the organisers - sadly.

Justin Thomas was excellent in trying to make the home crowd be respectful to McIlroy and Lowry once it was getting out of hand.

I also suspect it got the best out of Lowry and McIlroy as it gave them a motivation to who?ve it down the crowds? throat.

There is a tournament in the US called thw Travellers where crowd behaviour is not classic golf.

Golf is way more popular than it was and a lot of the stuffiness has gone but with that the new and sometimes younger crowd behaves differently to yesteryear. However, the crowd at the major tournaments tend to behave impeccably so maybe there is hope outside of the Ryder Cup.

I am not in any way trying to defend what happened in case that?s how it comes across. Some of the abuse directed at Rory M was wholly inappropriate - the repeating of one phrase by one of the annoucers/ ceowd MCs on the first tee has no place anywhere.

It?s just it?s not new nor surprising and morel?s the shame but the Ryder Cup also isn?t a traditional golf tournament either.

At least it looks like the USA are going to g to get battered and by the end of yesterday the European team performance had pretty much silenced the idiots anyway.

Dechambeau and Schefflwrs caddie didn?t behave great on one hold either but Flleetwood?s caddie (who is a wily scouser) looked ready to take them all on by himself!

Welcome to the club Alf - it has a large membership and you are in very good company.

Looks like Rory is sticking it to them again and could be a shellacking for the USA jjudging by the early scores.

                            It?s all about manners really.
Some have manners and some have none.
Sadly society is leaning towards a generation of people being raised with no manners or respect.

                              very true Billy.......
so drinks for two on you then at the Merchant Hotel offering unparalleled five star service and the height of luxury in the heart of beautiful Belfasts historic Cathedral Quarter will do for me when i am next over..........

Andy welcome as well....... his mood and wallet permitting.......... as my consensus is that Belfast men are charming hosts showing exemplary Northern Ireland kindness, good nature, warm welcomes and jovial humour often exemplified by offering tea and biscuits...... my Mother tells me..... and she still yearns for a real glass of seasonal potato wine to this day as her Brittany French spuds do not cut the mustard apparently.
