Not a good idea. Any PM needs some sort of mandate from the voting public to be taken seriously, which Truss never had. She is the Notts version of Jamie Fullarton - she got the job on a glossy presentation to a minuscule audience despite being hopelessly incompetent and unpopular with the vast majority. As with Fullarton, it's now simply a case of when the trigger is pulled.

For the sake of the country, I hope it's sooner rather than later.

I am sure we would be back in the wondrous EU without a referendum. Then we will surely see everything in the garden nice and rosey.
It is a good job we haven't been through a staged global pandemic to make things tricky for the government in power at the time.
Isn't that how Hitler got to power?

      • We are at the point now where Labour need to be put in power by the quickest means, to show everyone how to really send things t*ts up. Then we all might come to our senses, and realise it is never a good thing to let the msm run the country.
I do fear we will never as a country be allowed be run by a true Labour or Conservative PM/government, but be merely a puppet of the WEF. You will own nothing and be happy.

I think Truss has already beat them to it!

Yes I do. Do you think it isn't bad?

It can't but it'll take them awhile to undo all the Tory mess. 13 years and look where we are as a country, thanks Tories.

Whoever wins the next election, you would imagine taxes will have to increase, (if not sooner than that). There's very little money left in the tin and we are massively indebted. Especially if any new Gov has grandiose spending plans. Interest rates will increase from there all time low and in truth, should be higher than they are at the moment. Covid and the war in Russia has made Gov a bit of a thankless task and no doubt that will continue for quite a few years yet. Other than that everything is tickety-boo.

I’m interested to know how things got worse between 1997 and 2010? Public finances took a hit because of having to bail out the banks, but on virtually every other measure the UK was in a much ‘better’ state.

Have the Tories improved *anything* since 2010?

                            My pension fund did.

Personally think it should really be between 1993-2008 as Ken Clarke got the economy into a very healthy state, which enabled Gordon Brown to carry it on.

There is some truth in that. I'm not sure it'll be the same case this time though!

                              • At last someone apart from someone with right leaning policies has mentioned covid and the war in Ukraine as being the problem financially, not to mention immigration.
