Having to close over 100 schools because of a serious structural issue that has been known about since 2018 !!!! - just another malfunction by this government. I am just sick of total incompetence by politicians.

I'm not getting your point at all. Are you saying it was Tory policy to build these schools/buildings this way (it's not only schools affected). That type of building material has been used since the 1950's up until the 1990's. Couldn't other governments have done something about them? This seems like a building construction failure which happens to now afflict the government in power, which fortunately for you isn't Stammar & Stutter.

It seems ignoring it for 5 years was the solution...this government makes you proud.i wonder if it was a private school if they would have waited that long before giving them money to fix it..??

Definitely not, in those cases the blame is with the schools.

We all deserve better. We're a broken country and have been for decades if not for longer. Not just schools, but hospitals, office buildings etc. And not just RAAC because the asbestos issue hasn't been fully resolved. PFI was introduced to help finance school building and Labour didn't overturn the decision. There just isn't enough money to sort all the infrastructure problems out. We have water pipes that are ancient and leaking, sewage and drainage that cannot cope with the housing demands. As land is taken up more and more drainage is needed. We have telephone wires under pavements that now get squashed everytime a property wants a driveway to put their car. Our power grid system is on the limits of coping with all the inputs and certainly wouldn't cope if everyone was electric. We cannot produce enough energy and have to still resort to extending the life of Ratcliffe on Soar power station, which stands burning fuel for nothing when there is some sun and wind because it will need to go on-line at short notice when the weather is too hot (air conditioners) or no sun (such as at night) or no wind. We're 40 years behind on building nuclear power stations. Gas turbines are used hiding the "we are green nonesense". At this very moment 58% of our electricy is Gas Turbine, 18% nuclear, 7% wind and fortunately 4% imported from French nuclear. The latter is great until either we fall out with them or a Russian sub finds a way to drag an anchor. I struggle to find one good point regardless of which idiots are in charge. And they are by and large idiots, educated in Law or History with no or little practical insight or management ability and into a system that only works by belittling the other side and being divisive with short term policies to win the next elect dicatation their actions and policies.

You may gather I'm not in the best of moods - serious issues - golf didn't go well today and I'm p1ssed off. We are good at ceremonial occasions, I'll grant that. Oh, and COYP - we are all excited because we are in the bottom tier.

There is more than enough money to sort all the problems out. The real problem is that we still give the vast majority of it to a small percentage. We are a wealthy country, but some of our services are borderline third world standard. That's why I hate politics.

Otherwise, I'm in a pretty good mood. I've just harvested a 3lb 6oz / 1.63 Kg onion (pics available on request) and my peppers are finally ripening. Hope your next round of golf is better and we get 3 points on Saturday.

So the LibDems won one, Labour won one, and ULEZ won one.

The bigger picture is clear, I'll settle for that.

ULEZ didn't win one though did it. it was a Tory seat that Labour failed to win and blamed the ULEZ imposing Labour London mayor.

At the end of the day they all promise the world and deliver nowt!!! Tory or Labour, neither are worth a vote!

There is no political issue more important than climate change but keeping a sound roof over your children's heads comes pretty damn close. What reform(s) do you suggest, 1959, beyond kicking this totally inadequate government into the same long grass where they propel most of their own political issues?

Oh the irony...as ulez was a tory revenue stream and they insisted on expanding the region as one of their conditions when TFL were getting their funding during the pandemic!!
