      • Britain is nowhere near down the path yet that the government is going to take them. In a world that was generally run by Socialists over the last four years, the majority of countries are moving to the right to try and correct the damage that has been done.

        Britain went the opposite way.

There are so many countries that have been financially ruined by 'Labour' governments and generations will have to pay for years to come for the wanton tax, borrow and spend adopted by those governments.

Covid was used as an excuse for their naivety and lack of fiscal restraint over that time - but Britain decided to go the other way.

We've served our electoral pain and despite the Labour government's control of the media and their 'thought police' mentally in New Zealand, we managed to get them out. It was scary for a while though. Very few people trust the media in the country at the moment and I don't believe that will fully recover.

Britain needs to get rid of these clowns before they make the UK the last bastion of Socialism in the developed world.

It’s obvious that they are self destructing through their own incompetence and lies and will eventually kill themselves off, this Southport cover up, the Manchester thugs cover up, the freebiie scandal and treating the normal middle of the road man has a far right Nazi will be their undoing, give it time.

Great post that … as an example with public transport is the tram making any money yet? A proportion that use it fare dodge and don’t pay anything, perhaps if the great unwashed payed their way then fares would be lower rather than the usual people trying to push the problem on to those that drive and pay duty on fuel.

Talking of the tram and fare dodging the tram company say they are losing £ 20,000 a week due to people not paying when catching the tram at Midland station and they have shut the bridge for a 3 weeks trial.

              • Been listening to various news outlets and it seems that our government is basically run by communists. Starmer apparently did some kind of weekend retreat with the 'young communists' in his youth and Rachael Reeves is said to have removed a photo of a former, male, chancellor and replaced it with an image of a female, former communist figure.

It's easy to see which principles (that word used in relation to this government just seems wrong) form the basis of our current leading, government, figures thinking.

One thing they can't get the hang of though, under communism, a core principle is that no man shall have more than another yet Labour politicians see fit to accept freebies to the value of some peoples annual, earnings.

I knew that quote but hadn't realised it was from 'Animal Farm', who knew that VftK could be such a font

I think you mean trains not trams. They've not shut the bridge off - it is a designated public footpath before the station was built and had to remain so as a condition of the land being used to build the station. What they've closed off is the free and open access to the station's platforms.

Quite often I would use that entry point when meeting or leaving people at the station rather than go up through the barriers. It was also a useful route if walking from town to Meadow Lane and it was only recently (Gillingham) that I mentioned to my companion the history of the bridge which I think is on a plaque on the southside.

I must confess I have always had considerable admiration for Angela's rise from obscurity , and I find her strangely attractive , but that look does her no favours.

Not exactly Pre Raphaelite is it. I suspect that Lord Alli may be requesting a refund.

Indeed, when I was younger, my pals and I would often cut across to Station Street from Queens Road by using the pedestrian bridge which runs above and across all the platforms, not sure it was any shorter tbh.

I listened to his statement and it's hard to disagree with his reasoning. He did mention that it would all come out once the legal restrictions permitted it.
