Not sure about self proclaimed, but if "head of the childish comment politburo" is my job, I'll try and do it well. I'll start with this one from you in response to a post from frenchmagpie:

His username suggests he lives in France, so I doubt he's "freezing his tits off". But that's not the childish bit, that comes when you say "because you can't afford to have your heating on". How do you know that? I'll answer for you, you don't. It's just what you hope it is in your warped stereotypical world. You might not realise it, but on here you come across as a very strange person.

Not how I see it. I've visited lots of different countries and enjoyed visiting them all, but I've never for a single second been tempted to leave the country of my birth, or even the city of my birth. I love what Nottingham offers, it ticks all the boxes for what I want from life. It's been bloody cold today, but what sort of wimp runs away from a bit of cold weather?

Fair enough. I'd leave the UK (again) in a heartbeat if it wasn't for my kids being settled here. The weather would be just about bearable if everything worked well, but that's clearly not the case. It's not about being a "wimp", it's about wanting a higher quality of life.

Political point-scoring is gross, and it only happened because Elon is various shades of lunatic and decided to tweet about something he briefly read and knew nothing about.

... Although that's the general concensus with outrage innit? Let's have a bare bones understanding but knuckledrag and be mad.

He needs to stay out of politics, never mind fund German and UK far right groups.

Really glad someone has pointed this out. The misinformation around this and the way certain people have tried to politicise it is scandalous. Though not surprising.

Well, he was going to fund Reform to the tune of ?100m as he thought they were friends of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. When he realised that they weren?t that far right he dropped them. Keep your eyes out for funding going towards the English Defence League though.

As for the drive-by that wasn't intentional by any means (and I can't remember thinking that you were asking a question, or I would have responded - my biggest fault - responding). I was looking for references for my reply but I ran out of the will to live with constant arguments. I apologise if I appear to have intended any insult, that wasn't my intention.
not sure I understand all that given what you wrote, but definitely over given! A couple of other posters read your (surprising) reply to my comment as I did, so thanks for clearing that up. Happy to hear it was misconstrued.

To the bigger point you raised: I'd bet we all have far more in common than not, and think it's a shame that we (myself included) focus on hammering out our differences so much. Often internal tensions manifest externally, health issues, financial stress etc, but all we see on here is the fighting spirit. I ALWAYS regret it when I get too het up on message boards, but genuinely missing Nottingham and Notts, I value this board and appreciate everyone's input - although not always the content! Kumbaya...

That's exactly what it's about, and my number one priority is just the same as yours - having close family close nearby. My three daughters are all within a 15 minute walk or drive, so I couldn't ask for more. My secondary pleasures are having the footy team I've supported for 53 years easily accessible, lots of racecourses within an easy drive, a test and county cricket ground close by, and lots of parks and country walks in the area. Nowhere else in the world can offer me that.

Social media rules. Free speech or free lies? It's time to bin general elections and turn it into a 'reality' tv show. All party leaders have to sing, dance, skate and wear masks then Simon Cowell hands over to Ant and Dec to announce the winner.

And the next Prime Minister iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssss ....................................

Not been watching the news over the past few days then? The bit about the EDL is speculation I?d admit, but the rest is in the news and on twitter.
