  • A Pakistani woman who overstayed her visa and was arrested and held in detention, has just won ?100K compensation for 'being treated like a criminal'.

A Somali illegal who was 'locked up for too long' after being arrested for multiple crimes, used human rights law to fight his deportation and was also awarded ?80K.

I'm avoiding, reading articles like this in the future, it just angers me, the UK is a joke.

Reading the full story rather than the edited sensation should soothe your troubled brow somewhat...

As soon as you quoted the Guardian it lost all credibility

...with those who are blind to anything that isn't right wing. It is a simple report of a court case.

          • I'm not right or left wing SwalePie but I would take anything in the Guardian with a pinch of salt

Interesting. It's one of the more trusted news sources according to most independent research.

According to all the sources I have read, the Financial Times is the most unbiased/trustworthy rag.

Indeed it is. The Guardian is said to be the most trusted 'non-business' newspaper.

Here's a survey from 2023 for anyone interested...

                  https://yougov.co.uk/politics/articles/45744-which-media-outlets-do-britons-trust-2023

"The Guardian is the highest ranking non-business newspaper in terms of the highest trust figure, at 33%, while the Independent is the national with the highest net trust score (+16, slightly ahead of the Guardian’s +15)."

Oh yeah, her visa ran out in 04 and she was finally detained in 18, four**** years illegally in the UK and of course, her grounds for asylum claim, she's a Christian, my arse.

It's yet another example of why the UK is a such a target for illegals and they're aided and abetted by lawyers who are making a mint off the back of it all, oh and I'll bet she got legal aid.

A very measured and balanced response indeed.

                        The key paragraph here is......

"Comparing the levels of trust between Conservative and Labour voters reveals which outlets are the most divisive politically.
The largest difference applies to The Guardian. While the paper receives a net score of +41 among those who voted Labour in 2019, among Conservatives it scores -6."

The Guardian doesn't have any serious rival non-working class left wing papers to compete with. Votes for the right wing papers will be split.

I wouldn't trust any of them personally.

                          A very fair point.

Illegally in the UK for 14 years.

I don't see how you can realistically deny the facts without falling back on the usual allegations, the entire system needs 'Trumping'.

Typical, no argument so resort to silliness, disappointing.
