I don’t think being in Eurovision is dependent on membership of the EU.

Being able to sing is also not a requirement

We could enter the best song the world has ever heard and we would still get 'nil points'.

We're not very popular in Europe!

Eurovision relies heavily on funding from the BBC which in turn broadcasts it around the world.

Surprise! Surprise! Laxative reveals his credentials as a Little Englander who joins the ranks of those who believe Yurup is always trying to take the UK for a ride.

The Eurovision Song Contest is a non-profit event, mostly financed by: contributions from the Participating Broadcasters (the so-called participation fee), adding up to €6.2 million combined.

Joe Public pay for the UK's automatic qualification to the final night via the licence fee.

UK could win it if they come up with a song with lyrics that imply an apology for past wrong doings and that the singer is now going to move out of the way, disappear into a dark corner and self flagellate for all eternity.

More chance of Notts winning the Premiership than the UK winning ESC.

                  I still watch it though!

Quelle surprise! Slid quotes from the first entry on Google about who pays for Eurovision, what an exhaustive search! You must be knackered, slid.

                    • I don't know if anyone else saw Matt Hancock break the 202 day boycott by the Conservative government on Good Morning today, but it was another masterclass in avoiding answering the question. Piers Morgan tried hard, but it's easy to see why our Secretary of State for Health and Social Care has earned the nickname 'Matt Handjob'. The only government error he admitted to was getting the number of people allowed at funerals wrong. Any questions on the big issues like testing, limiting foreign visitors, care homes, lack of forward planning, lack of PPE, openly lying about Dominic Cummings, why they have not been accountable on the show and the numerous U-turns were simply brushed aside.

If any of us had performed so badly for so long in our job we would quickly be joining the dole queue. He kisses Boris's arse, so his job is safe.

Sounds like his performance on GM was the same as the one on BBC Breakfast

                        • Almost $50 million to one man. Not to supply PPE, but to act as a middleman to sort the logistics for the jeweller from Florida whom the UK Government selected to supply PPE.

So many lucrative contracts handed out to bizarre companies to with no scrutiny whatsoever. The Tories have used the cover of a pandemic to line the pockets of their mates from our money.

                          • Interesting what Boris didn't say last night.

3 things to beat the virus

                            Tiers
                            Testing
                            Vaccines

What has happened to the world class tracing system? We were being told their success rate which was falling weekly.

Maybe it's not such a jolly good system after all!

Yeah but it's only been £12,000,000,000 of mine and your money given to a friend of the Tories. Nobody was expecting it to actually work were they?

Has anyone had any experience of this 'World Class track and trace system'? Towards the end of last month my son-in-law showed symptoms, so he went for a test which was positive, so he gave them details of all the people he had been in contact with. He isolated at home in a spare bedroom while my daughter looked after their two kids in the rest of the house. After a couple of days she started showing symptoms, so did a postal test which also came back positive. She hadn't left the house so was only in contact with the two kids. SIX DAYS after his result, she got a text from track and trace telling her she needed to isolate as she had been in contact with someone who had tested positive!!! She was sensible and didn't leave the house in those six days, but she could easily have been out and about spreading the virus for nearly a week. It's easy to understand why cases were rising rapidly at that time if this is typical of the system.
