The key word is 'detected' but that number is well under half the amount who claimed asylum.

    • Donald Trump restates his plan for a US takeover of the Gaza Strip, after his idea was rejected by Palestinians and leaders around the world on Wednesday

Writing on social media, Trump says Gaza "would be turned over to the United States by Israel at the conclusion of fighting"

Against all international rule of law, how ironic that the Jews will be overseeing the ethnic cleansing and removal of a people from their own homeland.

      He also states

'The president says the US will be celebrating its 250th anniversary in July next year.

He says that he intends to honour the nation's heroes and celebrate by signing an executive order for the creation of a new national park.'

Does anyone rule out that this will involve his own image, being carved in to Mt Rushmore?

          ........
How ironic coming from somebody who enjoys the benefits of living in an ethnically cleansed/separated island.

Do you refer to the Turkish-Cypriots as 'the Muslims' or Greek Cypriots as 'the Christians'? Why use the term 'the Jews'? Why not 'the Israeli Government'?

I take it you go protesting at the green line on a regular basis to demonstrate against ethnic cleansing of any sort no matter who is responsible?

Re birth rates - it's obviously a complex and multifaceted issue, but I'd imagine the main reasons why people born here are having fewer babies include a sense that our society is in terminal decline, inability for the average couple to own a home, the fixation on careers over family, and the rapid move away from conservative values.

Expanding our population by bringing in millions of foreigners seems a very short-sighted sticking-plaster-type solution to a problem that needs addressing at the root level.
All of this is exactly right IMO.

Not that I think necessarily the solution involves a return to "conservative values". A 1950s marriage was absolutely a raw deal for women.

But to not address the issue at all and just paper over it year after year with huge immigration - probably a huge mistake in the long term. But it's exactly what we're all doing.

Meanwhile, half the population refuses to talk about it because it's "racist" to question if immigration is the answer, and the other half only want to talk about the tiny % who enter illegally because talking about the rest means addressing a huge lie their "side" continually employs. This is not conducive to a solution either.

            • Re: higher number of illegal arrivals - I can only list the numbers I find. If there's some better numbers out there, please link by all means.

But I would challenge you to ask yourself: even if the real numbers are double, or even triple - how does it compare to the 1.2 million strong legal immigration each year?

Again, I'm in favour of strong borders and countries enforcing legal immigration only. But the focus on illegal while ignoring the legal number is just weird.

              • Spoke to a customer of mine this morning who left Iran when the shar was deposed and lived in Sweden and Norway before coming here, he's hoping Trump can somehow sort out the Islamic Republic whom he says are hated by 90% of the population.

                • It's odd how there are some out there (on here too) who are insisting that a two-state solution is the only way forward, when one of the parties/sides involved is Hamas. The same Hamas who was democratically elected in Gaza. The same Hamas whose sole aim is to destroy Israel as a state.

Those same proponents of a two-state 'solution' then berate Trump calling him a warmonger for forcing his will on other countries.

It sounds like you're adopting a stance that you read in the Daily Mirror.

So on one hand, you think that Trump is eroding democracy, but on the other, you want to force your non-democratic ideas on the people of Gaza, who voted in a party, democratically, to do away with Israel - rather patronising.

Incidentally, those left in Gaza are still hard out, pro-Gaza supporters apparently, so all that Israel has done to them, has just hardened their resolve.

The hypocrisy of the two-state views takes your breath away.

None of the Muslin states in the vicinity want the Palestinians on their soil. They see them as extremists and are quite happy keeping them in Gaza. They can then use the plight of the Palestinians as a focus for hiding their own failings and human rights issues.

Lets face it, none of the surrounding states are truly democratic (In western terms) or bastions of human rights - again this seems to be overlooked by the left - conveniently.

Trump's call to 'clear out' Gaza has sparked anger in Amman, with well-placed sources telling Middle East Eye that the US ally is prepared for war

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia on Wednesday said its long-held position that Palestinians must have their own independent state was firm and not open to negotiation, a stance Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has reiterated many times before. The Saudi Foreign Ministry statement came shortly after President Donald Trump said he wants the US to own the Gaza Strip after all Palestinians are displaced from there and sent to other countries, where settlements will be constructed for them.

Iran, Jordan, Egypt, Syria, UAE and Saudi Arabia have refused for years to permanently accept Palestinians - even though the Jordan population is now predominantly of Palestinian origin due to the birth rate.

The left don't want a solution in the Middle East, because it gives them another cause to protest and complain about - as we all know the left politicians are the domain on the professional protestors and victim mentality.

The scariest thing to them is that some 'fool' like Trump will come along and create a solution.

Are these the same 'leaders' who have tried the same thing for years, which has led to the situation getting worse? I don't see anyone who has any credibility in the Middle East speaking up against it.

You just talk about what 'might happen' and what 'could happen'.

Why don't you debate about what has happened?

I could say with Trump's tariff policy it COULD lead to world peace and us all living in harmony. It's probably on a possibility level as your Nostradamic predictions.

If you know your history, what happened in the 1930s was partly caused by weakness in the other European governments. What is happening in the the world today, has been caused by the weakness of western governments.

Very good point you made - although I do realise that wasn't what you were trying to point out.

Additionally, I have never considered Kathy Burke at the forefront of world and political opinions. You have definitely opened my eyes on that one.

I'm currently trying to find a quote from Miranda Hart on the European Energy Problem in its relation to Norway, but I'm struggling.

So do you think that because Trump says he will send the Palestinians to two of the countries they will accept them? Even though he may be saying it won't be permanent, how many years will it be? And do you really think that the Americans will spend billions on building the Riviera for the Palestinians to return to?

Do you think it is against International law what he is planning?

Maybe time to call it 'O/T:- A Party Political Broadcast by the Lullapie Party'
