As of today (Friday 12th) it's 21 days since Maynard was sacked.

There were 18 days between Burchnall officially leaving and Luke Williams being announced. Also 18 days between Thordarsson and Steve Thompson.
The only other lengthy gap since 1953 was 13 days between Howard Wilkinson leaving and Larry Lloyd being appointed. Every other manager since 1953 had been announced within 5 days, the vast majority the same day or day after.
On paper you are correct the owners statement hints we have somebody.

Is the new guy on hols and we are waiting for him to do PR/media video first ?

Nobody has a clue who it is going to be I just hope it isnt some "outside the box" thinking appointment.

      • I predicted today but that?s looking doubtful now. I?ve no doubt they?re working very hard on it. It?s like signing players, if your top targets go somewhere else you work down the list, not easy.

        • Cardiff are apparently appointing either Brian Barry-Murphy or Des Buckingham. Can’t imagine we’ll be in the running for Buckingham even if he doesn’t get the Cardiff job.

Then again how many vacancies are open in the champ and L1, Buckingham, Evatt and Williams must be running out of options or as some say the deal is probably done by us and maybe with one of them?

Correct I doubt any of them get Leicester, Hull or Bristol City job in the champ.

It leaves Cardiff and Plymouth in L1.

Williams has zero chance of Cardiff especially as an ex Swansea man.

Think there?s QPR and Middlesbrough too. I think it?s probably done or dusted for us, it?s definitely getting announced tomorrow I reckon. I did say the same about today though 😂

Plymouth are reportedly going for Tom Cleverley.

                  • This gap between head coaches feels different to other times, and not just because it has taken so long.

It seems like nobody has a clue who's in the running, even after three weeks. I don't think any of the rumours have been credible. The club seems to have already chosen the coaching team based on the recent communications, but zero intel has leaked from the club.

Then there's the "restructuring the football department" comment, which leads me to think it might not be a simple like-for-like replacement of SM.

We really should hear something today, but I have absolutely no idea what to expect.

                    • Worth waiting if it's for the purpose of getting somebody who had their eye on the Plymouth, Cardiff or another job higher up. There's not a great deal a manager can do before pre-season starts.

If it's somebody like the Swedish guy then I'd have thought they'd have announced it well before now, unless they wanted to butter up the fan base first with news about the training facilities.

Notts have taken their time in the past when they've had a caretaker manager in charge (as long as a year when Wheeler was caretaker) but it does create a sense of unease with nobody whatsoever as the figurehead, even during the close season.

                      • Also very keen on the new HC and coaching team being announced however it does not have as negative an impact as it would under the old Manager system. Analysis and recruitment is still onoing under the current system and there is not much point paying for coaching staff before the players return.

As I and I'm sure others have stated before, Maynard's sacking wasn't a bolt out of the blue. The brothers will have known for several weeks that this was going to happen and a replacement or at least a shortlist, should have been well developed in plenty of time and it makes me wonder if first choice people are turning us down?

                          Hope I'm wrong of course.

                              .
Not necessarily a bad thing if that's the case. They'll never admit it, but I'm pretty sure Luke Williams was well down the list summer 2022, definitely not first choice, and they ended up having to take on somebody who had something more about them than just doing everything on script.

I’m not worried. I feel as a club we are in a very good position with a clear identity, a clear philosophy and financial stability (at least that’s what all the signs point towards).
I’m biased, as many of us are, but I think we are an attractive proposition, especially for the modern day head coach. I know some want the good old fashioned manager like a Fergie… reality is we will end up with someone who is up with the times, happy to coach and deal with the players without the hassle of dealing with day to day running of the club.
