I?ve just seen Des Buckingham at the village hotel.
I hope you mean the one in Beeston. But with Huddersfield being such a better quality town than Nottingham, what hope do we have?

    • It?s not going to be Alves, the Bros are putting in 2m on average a season and aren?t going to have someone relatively with hardly any coaching experience when they are bank rolling the club.

Luke Williams wasn't announced until 14th June which is nearly three weeks away. So let's hope it will be sooner.

Miles different, even LW said he recommended SM and he had quite a few years of experience and he was managing just one league lower than Notts when we took him on.
I can?t believe people are questioning the owners over Alves because of the odds on a betting site, bonkers.

He had experience though and its not like Williams was coming here with a stellar record either.

Lets face it we lose that penalty shootout he'd have got same treatment as Maynard.

We get who we get people wanted Maynard sacked they did that so now its in their hands and as the saying goes the grass isnt always greener nobody is nailed on to be a success.

You are only as good as your players, tactics help but without good players you are doing nothing.

They are questioning them because they appointed Maynard. Don't try and justify appointing Maynard, it was a terrible decision, and that is what gives credibility to the Alves rumours. But I'm sure they will show more sense this time

The 2 are totally different, we can call him a BT engineer, managing lowly part time Wealdstone but the facts were Weldstone were one of two part time teams in the NL playing expansive football with absolutely no budget hardly and surviving.

Did it work out? No, was it a car crash? No, but to then suggest we are going recruit someone with absolutely no experience of actually being a manager/head coach of a mens team seems a bit of a stretch.

No-one suggested that, only the bookies odds, but they did appoint him as assistant head coach. Forget the BT nonsense, appointing a Wealdstone manager was the issue. Expansive football had taken them to 13th in the NL, and we beat them 6-1, away. Let the bros have the final word: neither results nor performances reached the levels we believe the team was capable of - particularly during the defining period towards the end.

Totally agree, the way we faded away was more than disappointing, we weren?t on our own and the squad available all season wasn?t great either.

My point is there?s a massive difference between him and Alves, to my knowledge Alves has no experience of managing Men?s football at any significant level and to my knowledge not any u23s at a higher level. Maynard was an educated punt and LW was, he had a relegation on his CV but the owners probably thought his work with Russell Martin put him in good stead and what they saw of SMs Wealdstone evidenced it might work, plus out of all the managers LW pitted himself against he recommended SM but Alves has zero experience.

Don?t think it?ll be Evatt though he knows what it takes to get us to the next level and won?t play pretty football or be the yes man the bros always employ.
His football wouldn?t be pretty to watch but get results and team full of fight which would do me😁
I assume this is based purely on Evatt being a gnarly centre back in his playing days, because as a coach his teams exclusively try and play pretty football and pass it around the back as much as we tend to. The biggest criticism of him is the same lack of a plan b that did for Maynard.

This has happened every single time we have had a managerial vacancy under them haha. Before Williams was appointed there was a whole thread on here questioning their future because some lads got a random bloke from the Faroe Islands up to odds on favourite as a joke.

In the context of him following Maynard, it would be way worse than appointing Maynard in the first place. We clearly need someone with experience managing a team at this level successfully. If they appoint Alves, I'll sadly think for the first time that they don't know what they're doing. He wasn't even a coach until a couple of years ago.

I'm 99% sure they won't though. It'll be someone not even on the list yet.
