Where was the guarantee that him staying would guarantee us promotion?.Is that the same one we had when not selling Wooton and Ruben ? its all very well speculating we could have made more from promotion but there was o guarantee of promotion, but there was a guarantee DC was leaving for free at the end of the season if we didn't take the money and run.
DC could simply have took his ball and gone home and stopped playing, could have feigned injuries, could have picked up an injury , could have lost form due to speculation. There were many factors that could have changed between January and the end of season to effect his performances for the worse.? If it makes things better, and softens the blow, i believe the brothers will make a sizeable signing before the season starts which would involve spending some of that cash on a player.

    • If it is someone like Hojer and the club can't announce it for legal reasons, can't they say something along those lines? An explanation of why an announcement hasn't/can't be made? It's just the lack of communication that's an issue. Not that I really care, but they never released the more detailed post-season review that they promised. We just had the comment about announcing the new coaching team + the somewhat cryptic "restructuring the football department" comment. Then nothing.

The lack of communication coupled with very little in the way of credible rumours just feels weird. LW makes sense, but surely that would have happened by now if so. I get that he might have been waiting on "better" offers, but surely the club wouldn't sit around waiting for him for a month on the off chance.

Hojer is the only one that makes sense at this point, but I don't see why the club can't communicate what's going on without being specific.

You'd think he would be aiming higher than a bottom division league side in another Country after coaching a decent footballing nations u21s.

If it was Williams he would have been announced by now and that would boost season ticket sales plus he's currently unemployed. If he's waiting for "better offers" then I'd move on to someone else because we know his record regarding "better offers"!!

Hojer seems the most obvious to me but a wild gamble like Maynard was.

I don't think Hojer can be seen in the same category as Maynard when it comes being a gamble. He would actually be a bit of statement appointment for Notts. Being entrusted to manage the u21s of an established footballing nation is nothing like coaching Wealdstone. Some of the players he's coaching, and many of those his team are playing against, will go on to play at the very highest level.

U21 coaches tend to be highly regarded and competent but also yes men, both of which would make him an appealing choice for the bros. Throw in the fact he's Danish and spent most of his coaching career at Viborg and it all adds up. The reason I'd doubt it is he might be looking to coach a club at a higher level than L2.

Until they can be specific, what is there to say?
Any update prior to something being done, dusted and able to give all the details would just lead to more questions and frustrations.
The only question that needs answering is who the next manager is. Until they can announce that, what is there to say?

                  That?s my stance.

Some seem to expect that we have a divine right to know everything that is happening. Even worse, an expectation that all rumours should be confirmed or denied based on limitless things written on social media.

I?d rather the club focus on getting the recruitment sorted and can keep me abreast of announcements as and when they see fit.

The last two posts are sensible.

                    • If Williams has had an offer and not accepted it by now, then he can?t be very keen. So we don?t want him.
I can?t see him wanting to be an assistant in a League 2 club under Hojer.
The whole recruitment process seems weird. First the delay on manager (although the U21 tournament might have something to do with that)
Secondly we seem to have made a big play in past seasons on getting our main transfers in early. If what we have so far are our main transfers, then at first glance I am a bit worried. Our senior player squad size is already approaching our usual limits, so not too much more to go at.

Fair points 55, let's hope that whatever the obstacles are, they're overcome soon.

A good coach can get the best out of any player. Williams is not that man.. The first sign of things going tits up and he is off..

The head coach doesn't really need to worry about the budget though, not in their wheelhouse

Where did you hear this? If so, that's rather damning of our so-called ambitions.
