EFL regulations say that we need three international players to postpone matches. Now if we add Jatta and Jones... Thanks to CBP in the other thread for pointing that out.

Saying something is a "no-brainer" after it's become successful is pretty easy. I'd never heard of Padel, and I'm guessing Smiffypie you weren't campaigning for Paddles not puddles in the car park. (puddles is a joke)
On your wider point, I agree that if a few decisions, signings and games had gone differently in Jan/Feb, we would indeed be in L1.

        Yes I know that.

EFL regulations have also put a spending cap on L1/L2 clubs now as well which means every penny counts.

The first remit of a signing is the player good enough for this standard, it doesnt look like it to me.

          Got you, thanks.

There are so many of these YouTube accounts and podcasts from self-appointed experts these days. Do they really have that much more knowledge than the average fan? Most of it seems to be waffle and guesswork IMO. The difference is that they have a platform now whereas 25 years ago they'd just spout off in the pub to their mates. I'll stick to making my own assessment...which is that Kouhyar is bobbins and Norburn is finished.

Listening to NTT20 and reading this message board I can confirm they do unsurprisingly know more than the average fan. It?s a good listen.

The average fan tends to not be too bothered about any other clubs goings on preferring to concentrate almost entirely on the club they support

There is no average fan, we are all individuals with our own knowledge, experience and opinions. And some of us are still posting under our original user names.

Yes good enough for this standard but also good enough for League 1. That is if the club really want to get promoted. Gradual progression that way.
If not good enough for League 1 then 12 month contracts only.
If it looks to players like JJ and AJ that there is no real ambition then they will want away. I suspect though that AJ will be gone anyway if we get anything like a half decent offer. (sustainability and all that)

As you will have seen I was only quoting KCNotts. It?s the best League Two podcast I have come across.

Well done you alas I don?t think it deserves a medal or certificate

We'll have to judge him on how he plays, it's as simple as that. It's oddly similar to Boucard who came from 2 leagues below at 30 and was half decent, even getting MOTM on his debut (I think).

                    • Agreed ,Boucard was indeed half decent and the playmaker general in Keith Curle's side , akin to Palmer in Maynard's squad.
Unfortunately neither boss quite achieved promotion for very similar tactical reasons.

                      • Wasn't it Boucaud?

                        • Boucaud had already played at League One and Two level for Peterborough. He was only at Luton in non league as they were obviously a big club at that level.

In fairness to Curle it was in L1 and he had a 45% win ratio which is excellent.

We have not finished that high for donkeys years be careful what you wish for.

Same could be said for Maynard the bloke got mocked but we could very well end up with worse and with the Italian Laptop running wild too im glad for Maynard sake he isnt here.

                            • IMO. I am seriously concerned that something is wrong or going on behind the scenes. I don?t know what but have a gut feeling. No manager is this because they are all turning down the offer as they are aware of big changes, or is it they don?t like the constraints of the model. One thing seems certain no one seems to want the job!! Then we have 4 signings non of which I would rate on paper as good as Austin who we have let go. 3 of them recovering from injury so we have a squad at the moment that has lost talented players replaced by totally unknown and injury prone players. Is this again because the money is not being made available due to possible negotiations being played out ? No end of season review or statement of intent for the new season has been made by the Bros. I am possibly making 2+2=5 but something seems not right and I?m concerned it will be detrimental to our progress.

If it?s financial then why on earth spend all that money on the pitch last year which I?m guessing was extremely expensive as it was a full reconstruction then spend even more money on the pitches at the uni when probably these both could be classed as nice to haves.

I get the signings so far aren?t that mouthwatering but by the same token they have been made very early so their clearly not panic signings either by the club or players themselves.

I personally don?t think there?s a cash problem as from the above but they clearly set a player budget every season. Whatever we say about the league last year and then if SM was really poor, we came 6th, if Didzy and Jatta aren?t out the second game there?s any argument we could have got through so I?d judge it quite far away being a disaster.

I think it?s too early to judge as no one has a clue if the HC is sorted or not and who it actually is. We may see a lot more incomings and maybe some extra outgoings so I really can?t see how we can judge or even speculate at this point.
