Wow, so a team in transition and still needing half a dozen more players, gets thumped in a friendly by a team that won 90 points in the Championship last season.......and some of our fans are on suicide watch already.
    How sad ☹️.

The squad is not fit to challenge in the top half of L1, everyone can see that, let us hope that does include TS. The squad structure and MH approach for young players enables us to have a deeper squad than last year, but that still requires us to bring in at least 6 more players, fortunately some of those can be Under 21s.
Our squad will not be ready until the end of the transfer window and then it will take a few weeks for the late arrivals to bed in. So if we are in the middle 8 of the League and still in the cups that started by the end of September and TS allows the 6 players to come in (net 6 not sell to buy) we should be happy. A lot of if's and buts there, it is worrying times at the moment.

We all have an opinion and rightly so. Like all of us I want us to be where we were a few yrs ago.

No idea where were goin to get 5 or more decent players from - much of this is down to Evans and Raynor they contributed to TS being cautious on the cash front from now on and thats obvious.

Yes MH deserves support but time will tell the proof is in the pooohding !!!

Blunts a top end Championship team.
Us a struggling L1 team who have lost some better players.
Next to zero invested in the team.
              Significant gaps in squad.
              Throwaway game.
              Majority of fans not there.
We should expect to lose games like this, and certainly shouldn't draw conclusions from them.

Not worried at all. This is why I have never bothered with friendlies.

It's not so much the result but the fact it shines a light on how woefully underprepared we are, with less than 2 weeks to go until the start of the season.

We've needed full backs since Bramall left in January. And it shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone that Haks and Humphreys didn't sign. Add to that the know issues around Raggett's fitness and it begs the question why we're still short on defensive options. That's the frustration.

We need 5 players in, pronto. That's 2 CBs, 2 wing backs and a striker.

It never ceases to amaze me. We have 5 seasoned professionals managing the playing side of the business. Do fans not think they know where the gaps are? Do fans not think they are not worried about our predicament? Do fans not think they are working 24/7 to remedy the situation?

Maybe they are. The point others are making and the point you are missing is, why are we 2 weeks from kick off and this still hasn’t been sorted out?

We are supposed to be a professional outfit. Make it happen, don’t just cross your fingers and hope. As a poster commented over the weekend, we will be about 8 matches into the season before we complete the recruitment. That’s putting us at a major disadvantage.

So, I will question your “Seasoned Pros” comment

Same people who were saying Evans blew the budget early. Over paid for has been players ect ect ect.
Every dog has it's day and some love scavaging of the scraps they get. Same folk who if we went to war would be sat under a cardboard box blaming TS for not buying them a met box to hide in.

Splitting hairs to some degree - what scoreline is acceptable to lose by before we go from "expected that" to "season is going to be dire"?

We weren't a lot of points from being Prem vs L2, so shipping 5 goals in a meaningless game shouldn't be so surprising when we clearly know we are short in a few areas.

On paper, what SE did was good. He signed experienced pro's who had won promotion from the league. In reality it didn't work out - why? Injuries, bully-boy tactics, poor management, toxic atmosphere - take your pick.

Lots of people are very uneasy about the current situation - lack of signings, the manager playing a formation without the players to do so, invisible chairman.

Each can draw their own conclusion as to where we are but I will put a pukka pie on the table and say we will be in the bottom 6 after 5 games.

2-0 or 3-1 would have been the expected range of defeat 5-0 is a whole new level of defeat and shows both a shortage right across the range of positions. Very seldom have we lost by more than an odd goal when playing against top level opposition, a level above Sheff U tied are now at ? All the great FA cup ties in the sixties never resulted in any defeat anywhere near this level, the only big defeat we have suffered in many years was against Man City a few years ago. These defeats leave a deep Scar and will shake confidence to the bones ! Next weeks match against lower opposition will be crucial in any recovery and will start to offer the direction we are travelling in ?
