Simpson has good experience in taking teams out of league 2. Got Carlisle relegated.....

He also got them promoted from the national league and won promotion from league 2 twice including as champions.
I can't say I'm feeling overwhelmed if this is true as he will be 60 by the time the new season starts.
Lets hope it's a case of a good old un

So if true, we have a very experienced manager at this level, who has...

Won promotion from L2 twice (including once as champions), won promotion from the National League via the play offs, won the World Cup with England U20s and narrowly lost in the L2 play off final with Shrewsbury to a last minute goal v Gillingham. He also got Carlisle to the EFL Trophy final.

                Furthermore...

A former England manager, possibly about to be installed as Director Of Football.

And it seems people are still not happy.

That was then. Now what matters. Not forward thinking too me at their ages. Not exactly hungry are they to prove themselves.

The rebuild this summer is one of the most important in the club's history. I wouldn't be giving that to someone who has something to prove. We tried that with Hamshaw. Surely a better option is an experienced head who knows his way out of L2.

Would you be saying the same thing if Neil Warnock was appointed DOF, with Nigel Clough as manager? Both are older than McClaren and Simpson respectively.

And why would you want someone inexperienced or with something to prove as DOF? I don't get that at all. Sorry Steve, you might have been England manager and have a host of contacts but you're not really fit for purpose at Rotherham United.

This season we have got to stop the slide, that`s the number 1 priority, stay in league 2,hopefully a half decent season then reasess at the end.
Hopefully some new investment and a new direction will see us moving up again,as others have said,a big,big season allround,a new start for everyone.

Agree - halt the slide is crucial - may not be pretty, but whatever it takes to do that. Once we’ve done that, look at how to take it forward and create solid foundations for better times ahead

Without a change at the top,it's all irrelavant. We've suffered through lack of investment and ambition and it will get worse if we carry on the same old way.
