"And let that be a lesson to you!" I yelled behind me as I left the clubhouse for the offy. And with 8 lovely cans of my special friend in my bat carrier off I went with a spring in my step, despite the smattering of blood on my shoes.
And 3 'friends' quickly down, off I served, this time confidently using the big fat bat that I'd seen them use in photos. Thanks again google. This was going to be a good day.
Of ****. Not it isn't. The ball went shooting off violently to the left, good distance but straight into a bugg@r (0g 0y). This is new I thought and not a bit of a f*cker. Why have they put a big ditch with sand in it of a grass based sports course. It's bloody stupid, if the ball goes in there, what are you supposed to do?
As I was pondering I heard a voice in the trees. "That Jake, he's a player. Always rated him. Drop Woody, play Jake at left wing back, put Howdy behind Ronners and that's a team".
Recognising the voice, I called out cheerily, slugging another fruity can of Special Friend. "Hello mate. What's your tip for the 12.15 at Chepstow?"
"That'll be 'KillWoody' mate. Top horse that. Always fancied it, will win at a canter, mark my words. I've been betting since..."
Blocking out the rest of his monologue, I took his word and placed that bet before finishing my Friend and got back to my diemma of extracting my ball from the bugg@r.
Of course, pick it up and throw it out - no one's watching. Simples. I cracked another Friend and shot confidently, happy in my genius. Of f***, straight into another bugg@r. 0g 1 y
This game is a ****ing nightmare. Is it even a game? It's like a good walk spoiled! Oh I like that phrase, and make a mental note to use it in my new Golfle community - they are quite stupid and easily impressed.
Right - let's try one of those slanty bat things and do this properly and shoot from the sandy bugg@r. It's all gone t1ts up anyway but I'm enjoying the beer.
And wowsers - this bat actually made the ball go up in the air again. How do they do that? But when I climbed out of the bugg@r I saw that it was not just on the grassy greeny bit with flag, but was only about the length of one Leo Fortune-West away from the hole! I did not expect this, but I often underestimate how good I can be when I drink like you wouldn't believe (2g 2y)
But one Fortune-West is still a long placement to get the ball in the hole in the ground. I stared it the distance for a long time. 1 hour and 10 minutes to be exact as I realised the pubs were now open, so time to get a move on. I realised that there was only one shot i could make, and with steady 5 can hands I played a pearler of a shot, in without touching the sides for yet another Parp! (5g) I punched the air in hazy merriment - that was one mother ****ing hole!
That voice piped up again: "I'm pleased for you mate, but I'm not gonna clap"
That reminded me - how has Killwoody got on at the races? I checked on my phone: Killwoody made 3 yards out off the blocks and dropped dead of heart failure.
"You useless *******" I shouted after my strange friend as he strode away obliviously, with only his flies for company

Hole 7 (Not Roundwood)
Trees to both left and right
Drive pulled to left "FORE" Players on 5th Tee ducked and ball ended up on the green. Unfortunately it was 4th Green not the 7th - 0g, 0y
Free drop off the green. 8 iron straight into bunker at side of the 7th - 1g, 1y
Horrible lie, sand iron, hit lip of bunker back to where I'd hit it from - 1g, 1y
Second shot out of bunker, just onto fringe of green - 2g
Hit and hope chip and run (with only letters left that fitted !). Hit flag and dropped in ! 5g
Somehow a bogey 5
4 over for the roundLast edited by BramleyMiller58; 18-11-2022, 12:01 PM.

Stats for the week ending Sunday November 13th. Easiest word was RAINY with a 3.32 average (3.77 on MM) and hardest word was MEDAL with a 4.08 average (4.00 on MM)
In case you want to compare your performance by looking back on here, RAINY was on the 9th and MEDAL the 11th.

Had a big write up ready but it dropped off the screen before I could post it.
Family issues to deal with now so, just want to say probably the hardest word ever to get.
1g, 1y,
Very hard still 1g, 1y.
Used all my vowels and the letter ‘S’ so had to think really hard. 2y, 1g
Only logical letter to that could actually fit I tried and it worked. 5g.
4= par so still + 3 after 7 holes

Having navigated tentatively and somewhat fortuitously to a par 4,Originally posted by Ronners View PostEntertaining as ever pup 😂 UTM
I thought the results on this hole would be very poor given the obscurity of the word. I was surprised and impressed to see several other pars and even a one under (take a bow, Jake.)
Raging, your story is brilliantly bizarre. Good comedy writing; keep it going!

Just before I go to bed I thought I’d have a pop at todays challenge.
1. Using my favourite word which consists of three vowels and a ‘S’, scored zero!
2. Second go, 2 y, 1g.
3. 2y, 2g
4. Sure I’d got it, perfect word that gutted but no
so 2g, 2y
5. Final go it simply had to be xxxxx. Result 5 g.
One over on the day so back to + 4 overall.
Night all or should I say have a good day I’m off to sleep now.Last edited by Brin; 19-11-2022, 08:26 AM.

An eventful hole.
Matched Jake's drive for distance, only to see my ball trickle into the left fairway bunker. 4y
From a great lie in the bunker and with an open green ahead I decided to go with a 5 iron and go for the pin. A heavy contact and slight hook saw my ball bounce once and the find the sand again in the deep green side bunker this time. The ball was travelling so fast I was feeling rather fortunate I wasn't 50 yards away from the green in heavy rough. Terrible shot. Still only 4y
Didn't realise how deep the bunker was and again I had a little bit of luck with my lie. Couldn't see the hole as I pondered my shot and all I was thinking was up and down for a par. Took a swing and got the the connection I was looking for. Immediate thought was just let me be within 10 feet for a chance of par. Better than that. Straight in for a birdie 3. 5g
My 2nd guess narrowed the probability significantly but happy to get away with that.
Beginning to think my start word is going to let me down if I don't change it for the inward 9. Messes with your mind does golf.

Birdie 3 for me today (19th Nov)
A nice drive off and a reasonable lie just to the left of the fairway around 100 yds from the green. (3y)
Chipped onto the green but whilst it was in a decent place on the green, around 5 feet away I had to really give it some thought about the slope towards the hole (4y)
After some deliberation I came up with how to play it and it dropped straight into the hole for a birdie 3 (5g)
3y
4y
5g
