At least you've finally admitted it.

Viktor Johansson was initially here on trial, he didn't turn out too bad.

Weren't he 3rd choice keeper at Leicester it weren't like he was on trial with us same as the 2 we've got now who are more to check on their fitness levels.

All you asked was who was the last trialist who was any good. He was a trialist, and he was VERY good.

And no, was wasn't 3rd choice at Leicester, he was 4th or 5th.

Mick Gooding if you called them trialists back in those days was one I remember. He was VERY good as well.

Last & only time I had a drink many years ago in the Prince of Wales, the beer was crap.

I was a big fan of Mick Gooding

Tbh most of that team seemed to quite like a drink. If it's the Prince of Wales Feathers, near Millmoor you're talking about, it often seemed like it was a question as to who could get in there first after an away game us or the lads 😆

Used to drink in there quite often Saturday evenings before train to Sheff.

Across from old Railway station. Used to go in regular before the home games. Talking round 30 years ago was nothing wrong with the beer in there back then.

                    • I noticed that the trialist we had - was it this time last year or the year before - from Exeter, and didn't sign now signed for Truro.

We don't seem to have a great record in finding gems via the trialist route, but at least it is a way to them a chance and check them out for an extended period and decide not to sign, rather than taking a chance on them unseen and end up signing duds. We have plenty of other methods of signing those!

                      • Not a incoming or imminent. Just reading the September return for Raggett could be a long shot. He's back on grass though only training alone. Hamshaw optimistic he could be available for the beginning of the season.
This would be welcome news as long as we don't bank on it

Get him fit then gone. Another sicknote.

                            • Don?t agree. He was an ever present at Portsmouth and got the injury when he came here.
If he can get over this he will be a major asset?..unless it is a throw away comment to deflect from another signing that didn?t cross the line. This brings me back to my original question that those ?in the know? may wish to answer. Is Charlie Barker signing?

I hope we do ?cos when we inevitably draw Wednesday at Hillsborough in the Carabou (or whatever cup) I?ll back him to score the 93rd minute winner?..although with new ?rules? it?ll probably be the 103rd minute winner!!
