I cannot believe the grief that I have received from two posters when all that I was advocating was to state that the individual concerned was British in order that false information would not appear on social media. That is all I was saying. It beggars belief!

What are you larkin on about? Larkins.. hmm didn?t you have an issue with that too. You?re probably a teacher with a history that got fired for some wrong doing.Originally posted by Leicesterbaggie View PostI cannot believe the grief that I have received from two posters when all that I was advocating was to state that the individual concerned was British in order that false information would not appear on social media. What a vile comment to make! For the record, I had a thirty seven year career at the same school respected by staff, parents and students alike. I will not make any further comments on this subject but hope that the moderators take note of your comments.Originally posted by greyhorse View PostWhat are you larkin on about? The above and your previous post at 29 is absolutely uncalled for Greyhorse. Having a difference of opinion is one thing, making accusations regarding another is totally unacceptable. I would suggest, at the very least, an apology and withdrawal of that statements is required.Last edited by On Balance; 04-11-2025, 07:11 AM.

Is Rishi wrong too for being critical:
Rishi Sunak has stated that "political correctness" has for too long prevented authorities from effectively tackling grooming gangs, and that this has included a reluctance to acknowledge the ethnicity of perpetrators in high-profile cases.
Perhaps Rishi was being racist 😂
But we're talking about the train stabbing here, so I'll ask you or Leicester again. What possible purpose would it achieve announcing the ethnicity of the suspect in the following hours or days? Particularly when the police already had him in custody?
And Leicester, you have created a can of worms here. You must surely understand there is a process the police have to follow to protect the public and secure a conviction. I just found the whole thing bizarre. If the police didn't follow this process and the trial collapses there could be serious offenders let back out on the streets. Surely you and Al see that?

I said if it was in the public?s interests then the police would communicate the ethnicity ie the Epping migrant as this was a safety issue for little school girls to continue walking alone past the Bell hotel. Sunak confirmed the ethnicity of the grooming gangs should have been released and they weren?t. Obviously in some cases the police will not release details if it?s not within the public?s interest. Had the train incident been terror related and the suspect/s were on the run then in that case the police would have to release a description and ethnicity including of course white individuals. As Sunak said the Police in some cases have been slow to communicate the ethnicity due to cultural or religious reasons.Originally posted by WBA123 View PostBut we're talking about the train stabbing here, so I'll ask you or Leicester again. I sill say there?s double standards. It?s ok for Sunak to say the grooming gangs ethnicity should have be revealed or Patel to say stop the boats but lefties fly off the handle if a white person God forbid were to say it.
I have my views and they are my views but part of my family don?t hold U.K. passports FFS but lived here for years just like other law abiding British Jews or Muslims. Are we saying all British Muslims who are British Nationals are not angry about the amount of illegals entering? Jesus - there are a good number against it if they have to pay taxes to support billions of pounds in hotels etc like everyone else.
People are allowed their opinions. I have someone in my family who sees good in everyone and another who likes Trump. Is the one who likes Trump an idiot because if that?s the case there?s millions of idiots in the world including professionals and business leaders. It?s his view FFS - should I disown him or call him personal names?

Well this is an interesting thread! 😀 Still don't see why it should degenerate by some into name calling though.
My own take is not dis-similar to OB's in that, in normal circumstances, there should be no need to report the colour, religion or nationality of any offender. There are good and bad in all sections of society. Individuals can certainly be influenced by cultural, religious or political beliefs but being of a certain colour, religion, nationality, *** or age does not, in itself, automatically mean that you are more disposed to commit particular crimes.
However, not reporting such details to the press should NOT mean that the Police do not look at them. After all, if you want to tackle crime and be pro-active about it then you need to be clear eyed about the root causes of it and if there are clear indications that certain groups or individuals are behind it, then it makes perfect sense to target these regardless of colour/ nationality or anything else. "Political correctness" should not come into it and any factual data should not be shied away from. It may be a white British crime family, a group of Travellers causing issues, a Somali or Albanian gang, Black or white British street gangs or a Pakistani grooming gang. It does not matter- if the evidence points that way, then it clearly should be followed up.
What the Police must avoid is both the tarring of some sections of society with the same brush and a repeat of the abuse of "sus" and "stop and search" rules. The recent documentary on the Met, however, sadly shows that systemic racism within their ranks (along with misogyny and homophobia) is very much alive and kicking.
Surely details of things like colour, religion or nationality should only be reported at the time if it is in the public interest and that information may be valid to safety concerns. A clear example of releasing some details to the public about an individual might be if that person is on the loose and presents a clear threat to public safety so that they can take the relevant precautions and are aware not to engage with them and to report any sightings.
Not all situations are as clear cut however. With Al's, example, if an illegal immigrant from a hostel has carried out a ***ual attack on a young girl you could argue that releasing this information would further stoke the flames of prejudice but if the context was also that many young males from the same hostel are breaking the rules and out and about in the area and share similar back grounds to the one arrested then there is an arguable case for warning locals of this in order for them to take steps to protect their children and to put pressure on the authorities to ensure the rules of the hostel are enforced. This would not be dis-similar to if a British white street gang was operating in an area and the public were warned to stay away from it to prevent potential harm whilst pressure would be brought for the authorities to tackle the problem. It would not mean that all young white males in that area were involved but it would be a justifiable measure.
Unfortunately, it is social media that is to blame for much of the current mess and the too often unthinking or uninformed (if not sometimes outright racist and bigoted) users of it who can so quickly spread fear and misinformation. This means that someone commits a heinous crime such as these train stabbings and straight away some-one will speculate online that it is "another illegal immigrant" for example and the Police are then forced to release details to counter this and prevent unjustified fanning of existing prejudices.

Whilst I certainly understand 123's reasoning regarding due process, given the current climate, I cannot see any problem with you raising the question LB and certainly the abuse you received from one poster in particular was totally out of order and un-necessarily hurtful.Originally posted by Leicesterbaggie View PostI cannot believe the grief that I have received from two posters when all that I was advocating was to state that the individual concerned was British in order that false information would not appear on social media. We should all be able to debate issues on here but, as OB pointed out, whilst we can disagree with each other over things there is no need to resort to unwarranted insults. We have already sadly lost Soulman to such behaviour so please don't be tempted to leave or else move over to the "shiny new playground" as 68 calls it!

Thank you both Omegstrat and OB for your observations. Do not worry, I have no intension of leaving this site. I have been a member for a dozen or so years and have disagreed with other members on quite a few issues, including Al, but have never resorted to rude or insulting comments. I am more than happy to debate issues but in a polite and respectful manner.Originally posted by Omegstrat6 View PostWhilst I certainly understand 123's reasoning regarding due process, given the current climate, I cannot see any problem with you raising the question LB and certainly the abuse you received from one poster in particular was totally out of order and un-necessarily hurtful.

Changing the subject, I am certainly hoping for a more positive and energetic approach to tonight?s game at Charlton. It has been somewhat disappointing watching the previous few games.

So, we have a typical right-winger calling for moderators to suspend or ban me just because they didn?t like my criticism. How typical. I thought you folks were against cancel culture? Seems a little hypocritical, don?t you think?Originally posted by Leicesterbaggie View PostThank you both Omegstrat and OB for your observations. Then there?s OB, who recently had some kind of meltdown, demanding I retract my comments, and Omeg, who can?t even address me directly, calling my criticism ?uncalled for.? How about you two focus on calling out the bigotry and racism coming from Delusion-Al and Larkin-LB?
We?ve got BaggieAl, who insists the police release the ethnicity of individuals involved in crimes so he can confirm his bias that it?s always minorities committing them. He just wants to validate his own narrative and say, "I told you so... it?s them again." And then there?s LB, a teacher, no less, who embodies the worst kind of right-wing educator, spreading distorted views about ethnic minorities. What a shame.
I call them out on their blatant racism, and OB and Omeg come after me for ?attacking? them. Really? Who?s the one being offensive here? You two love preaching from your moral high ground, but you won?t even hold your own pals on here accountable. Why is that?
