Very true Matt but hey - not everyone is greedy in this world especially if they know the organisation is financially struggling.

I hope our management team do say to Dike even if verbally to not to even think about the national team unless you have had a good run of games with the club that pays you. Illegal? So what!

Personally I think this saga will go on until his contract ends and can see him retiring.

So sad that footballers earn ridiculous money and if this was a member of the public who couldn?t work they would get full pay for six months if very lucky. Don?t buy the it?s a short career as the average person can?t get rich in a very short time frame.

Surly there must be a reinsurance some where for contracts like that? The club has to be able to cover themselves.

Very good point! Surely there must be including the sad death of Jota from Liverpool as he was a valuable asset

Good point and it would be interesting to find out. In the "real world" companies do not continue to pay full wages for as long as you are sick and contracts/ length of service dictate how long you do get paid for and at what rate. Can't quite see players on hefty wages ending up on SSP though 😁 plus, of course, the nature of their employment means they obviously face continuous risk of injury which has to be accounted for.

Film stars, for example, have long had insurances taken out against them hurting themselves but dont know if this is their own personal insurance to protect their income or insurance taken out by the studios to protect their projects. Be interesting to find out if clubs do take insurance out on players. Anyone?

We do need to move him on. Its not panned out any way we wanted both for him or the club, of course if this was Liverpool or Man city it wouldnt even be an issue, it just feels so bad because of Lai and what was inherited. At his age his career could be over, so moving on suits the club financially but it really could be the end for Dyke. Not easy for him or the club.
