If it is Ramsay then I wonder what contract length they'll give him?

Alan Pardew 2.5 yr contract sacked after 5 months
Valerie on a 4 yr contract dismissed after 7 months
Steve Bruce 18mth sacked after 8 months
Tony Mowbray 2.5 yr contract sacked after 3 months
Ryan Mason 3yr contract sacked after 7 months.

On that basis Alf will be given a 6 yr contract and dismissed by Christmas 2026

But I do now think that the Nestor model is the root cause - it may be great on paper bur truth is we have to play on grass. I don't think that any manager or head coach can thrive under this overarching Nestor plan .

Would have preferred someone who is savvy about the championship and brave enough to be his own man - he may as well be as you get sacked if results don't deliver. So before the ink is dry here's my take Ramsay is not the answer - more money wasted . Did we not look at a dynamic young manager leading a team in the lower division - who might thast be - I don't know but our wall to wall analysts should
For whatever reason, Mason got the nod last time, but they didn't forget Ramsay. Here we have a young coach who has made steady progress in the lower divisions, has already tasted experience of working with Premiership coaches and also assisted at international level. To further his career, he's had the guts to up sticks and manage/coach for two years abroad, and now believes he's ready for the Championship. Sounds determined and ambitious, bring it on and make a bigger name for himself.

Was thinking of this a few days ago, along with how much transfer fees, agents fees and wages paid over the years for Burke, Diangana, Grant and Zohore in particular, with virtually nothing back. The numbers must be enormous, and are obviously still hindering us now.

There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that you need championship experience to be a good manager in the championship. Sunderlands gaffer and many others are examples of that.

Football is football. He has had two successful seasons with his club, he knows English football culture and training, he is regarded as a top coach.

We might have gotten someone very talented before they become a top league manager. Who knows.

He might be a flop. Who knows.

The notion of writing someone off before they join is daft.

I would really like to know what influence Nestor had on Mason regarding team selection and tactics; I don’t suppose that we’ll ever know but I have reckoned for some time that Nestor is the problem. Far too many statistics bandied around in football these days; it matters not one jot what the statistics tell you if you have scored fewer goals than the opposition. You don’t need statistics to tell you if a team is playing well or not, even if you only have, say, 15% possession but win then those statistics have been a waste of time and effort. Expected goals, what a load of ****in’ nonsense.

And this is where we spend so much of our funds!

Appointing the wrong person or for the wrong timescale has cost us dear and continues to do so. We can?t afford to get this appointment wrong.
