Your Best First Match Of The Season
Enough politics, back to the footy
Regardless of the rest of the season it started, what has been your best/most enjoyable first match of the season? The one that either gave you immense (probably misguided) hope for the campaign to follow, or had a particular magic moment in it?
I was walking round a garden centre in Breedon when we beat sunderland 5-0 so maybe someone else will claim that one, so I'd go for either the 2-2 against Man Utd the first season we won the league or the 3-3 against Leeds when we returned to the first division in 96/97, both great matches.
I was also at the first match of the 87/88 season v. Luton as a guest of a distant relative of Mick Harford, we arrived at our seats in the directors' box a couple of minutes in, and Mick promptly got sent off a minute later. The first player ever to be shown a red card in English league football as I recall
Anyone?

Hell yes ! I remember the 5-0 at the BBG against Suderland....................... walked out after the game on a bright summers day and saw some very unhappy Sunderland supporters. As I passed one he said in a loud voice "YA WERE LUCKY MAN !" to which I replied, "YES FIVE TIMES", then made a hasty escape :-) :O
