As good as Stylesy is, he needs an older head laikin by side o him, sumbdy who can learn him the grubbier side of laikin in midfield. So too does Kane, so too does Palmer.
I might be wrong of course but it strikes me as no coincidence that not only have results been good since James was at the club, Mowatts form has been very good too. If we didn't really need James then unless there was a loan clause, why was he playing as regularly?
Now it could be argued that the points are almost already on the board as regards avoiding the drop is concerned. Perhaps now is a good time (if Mowatt leaves) to integrate in two championship novices. I don't actually know the statistics but i'd wager strongly that between Kane, Styles and Palmer, there can't be more than 20 starts between them at this level in central midfield. That is the big worry for me if Mowatt leaves.
Let me get this straight- I'm not doubting these lads' ability, far from it. From what I've seen they look capable players with some promising attributes. However, I can't emphasize enough how important it is to have that knowledge & experience in there to help guide these boys along out there on the pitch. Potential is one thing, nurturing it in the correct way in order to bring the best out of them is quite another.
