It's my understanding that the motorways from La Manga up to Benidorm for example [as I'm sure many more are] were funded by the EU ie partly UK on the proviso that no tolls should be imposed because these roads are EU [publicly funded] but the Spanish impose more tolls than you can shake a stick at & no sanctions are brought by the EUQuote:
