I don't think Scotland will change much while Nicola is SNP leader. The defeat of covid might be the crowning glory that would encourage Nicola to retire, so perhaps there will be a move away from her SNP. Germany looks really different now that Angela Merkel has gone. We might find a similar effect when Nicola hangs up her boots.

There was a pandemic response policy which had been in place for 15 years, this was abandoned to follow the sage scientists.

Can I ask you bcram why you would support more restrictions if we ever have a more dangerous strain when it's been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that restrictions only (at best) delay the inevitable

I've nearly thrown the towel in a couple of times over this, it's scunnered me....but I ain't giving up my liberty...while I've still got a chip and a chair...they are going to have to take it.

I don't see politicians up here turning, I don't see the general public turning....I do in England.

Oh and the next "variant of concern" around November 2022.....they will make sure it's as transmissible as omricon but more deadly ....set your watch by it.

I had a look at my vaccine certificate (my eyes only, not for barman, restaurant owner or bouncer consumption), runs out march 2022, booster number 2 in the spring then?

I doubt I will have another one, it's all rather pointless

I agree with you tho its not about the virus anymore.

My missus works in the care industry,some of the stories she tells me about the "rules" are quite basically unbelievable.
One wee snippet was a care worker who is taking patients to christmas dinner,seat and meal bought and paid for,been told no allowed to eat her meal.wtaf

Prime minister of Dublin has said the Irish will have to live with restrictions forever because of COVID......first one to break ranks and admit it.

The vaccine did not work against the Delta (Indian) variant because it was produced to deal with the original strain of the Covid-19 virus which came from China. Therefore in my opinion it is unlikely to work against the Omnicron variant.
Last night there was a report on the BBC news that some people in Israel are being given a fourth Covid-19 vaccination to protect them against the disease.
The way things are going peoples arms will be like pin cushions before the scientists, health experts and politicians finally admit that the current Covid-19 vaccines are no use in dealing with other strains of the Covid-19 virus apart from the Chinese strain.

I heard today that the vaccines are in fact quite effective in reducing the effects of the Delta and Omicron variants in the individual. Obviously when you're dealing with individuals there will be some that get ill despite the vaccine but in the vast majority of individuals it has proven to be effective - or at least not ineffective.

I just had a Teams meeting which included a guy who tested positive today and who has to go into self isolation - double jabbed (not boosted yet) with no symptoms, seems to have worked for him. Which swings us round to the big con - case numbers. They continue to sell a positive test as a case even where the individual shows no symptoms.

Sorry. I think the death numbers are absolute proof that the vaccines are working.
